Which version of Dawn of the Dead (from boxset) has the audio dubbing issue...

Hey all,

I know this answer is floating around on here somewhere -- but i cannot find it.... Which cut of DOTD has the audio dubbing issue? Also, is there any benefit to getting a hold of the anniversary edition (from AB with the multi-colored cover) now that the boxset is out?

Thanks,

Matt

Hhmmm...

Oh yea, the japanese dubbing issue WAS with day....I thought there was something "wrong" with the new release that was causing me to want to keep my original DVD pressing around as well.... (of dawn, that is).... Hhmm... So the theatrical release in the boxset is the exact same as the older anniversary release from AB?

No. The "theatrical" cut on the old anniversay release erroneously featured one reel from the Cannes/"director's" cut. The new boxset contains the true, correct theatrical cut. You might want to keep the older release for pure completist trivia purposes.

Edited to fix a bunch of idiotic typos

There is supposedly a glitch on the theatrical cut where it skips a scene or two right after the raid on the housing project... on some players. It didn't happen to me.

And you DEFINITELY need this set, regardless ; )

Exactly.

Although I have the UE I have also kept my Anniversary disc... but not for completist trivia purposes, but because I like that cut.

Nothing unique really, it was just OOP. The "director's cut" is included in the box and it's anamorphic... Neither of the previous editions of Dawn (DC, theatrical) were 16X9 enhanced (the current Divimax edition is). So - IMHO - no, there's no reason to still have either of the old editions. If you don't want the UE, just pick up the Divimax version.

You are correct, the audio issue was indeed with Day, not Dawn.

The UE is called the Ultimate Edition for a reason. There's no reason to have any previous version.
