Has Gladiator EE been postponed? I'm asking because it is unavailable for preorder from any of the major dvd sites. It is supposed to be released in one month. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Good question. I checked Amazon for this last night and still no listing for it, so who knows. But I do believe the most news were ever got about a release date was just rumor mill stuff.

releasing it one month after Kingdom of Heaven's theatrical debut made no sense to me, so i wouldn't be surprised if they're saving the new Gladiator release for when Kingdom of Heaven comes out on DVD.

Any more news on this yet about the release date and exact specs? I ordered the 2-disc on Columbia House today because I forgot about this new edition, so now I have to decide if I want to call and cancel.

very tempting!!!

Mao 05-19-05 08:21 AM

I've seen a new date of Aug. 23rd on this now....

Filmmaker 05-19-05 08:43 AM

Cool, personally, I'm glad it's being delayed. My wallet was already being strained by the fact that STAR TREK: INSURRECTION--Special Collector's Edition and Coldplay's new album X & Y were also coming out that day, then Buena Vista threw in SLING BLADE: Collector's Edition at the last minute. This delay will help my bills get paid on time, he he...

Planning on, yes. Getting any, doubtful. :D

Artman 05-19-05 04:21 PM

Heck yeah, that's near-perfect packaging! Looking forward to the 3hr doc, and oh..the extended movie too.

Geofferson 05-19-05 04:58 PM

Great cover art!

Big Worms 05-19-05 05:00 PM

Damn that cover art looks sweet!

jmj713 05-19-05 05:37 PM

WOW. This will be keeping good company to the original 2-discer.

Now, Ridley, finish up the 2- or 3-disc Kingdom of Heaven set, and get to work on that Blade Runner Megaset! PLEASE!

Mike Lowrey 05-19-05 05:40 PM

Man, that's some sweet cover art and packaging, and this coming from someone who never uses the word 'sweet'.

Looks a lot like the 3-disc Deluxe Edition of Black Hawk Down, which was also a Ridley Scott film, no?

RyoHazuki 05-19-05 05:48 PM

Packaging looks really neato but that cover art isnt that great.

QuiGonJosh 05-19-05 06:11 PM

Okay, I'm in, that set just looks too cool!

These statements always puzzle me. The packaging is neato, but the cover-art isn't great? OK, so what would you rather have? IMO, that covert art is 10x better than the Signature Series set.

the package is Sweet, but the cover HAS THAT BITCH RUSSELL CROWE. :)

Cornelius1047 05-19-05 08:08 PM

Packaging, I assume, meaning the inside (discs, trays, insert/booklet, etc.) and not the cover art itself. I actually don't tend to care about most artwork that a lot of people here seem to detest. But I'm surprised so many people like this cover art. I definitely prefer the original Signature Series to this. This one just looks fake, like a bad photoshop. To me anyway.

Bah. That packaging looks like a step back. The old one looked more "Special" than this one.

(BTW it's Atheist, Mike)

What's puzzling? The box itself is nice, but i agree with the poster that the actual cover art is lacking. I prefer the cover on the current version/signature edition as well. Don't like the pose at all.
