And is it odd that there's going to be a featurette on Rick Baker?
You know, since his work NEVER MADE IT into the final version of the film? In turn we got terrible CGI werewolves by KNB. [Rick Baker left the project before Craven reshot the flick for a second time.]

KNB did the effects
, I flew out the theatre just as the credits began - jeesh, and I thought KNB were a talented bunch of EFX guys.

I don't believe that is true... I live up here in Canada, and the version I saw had little to NO gore and was hacked to shit (as far as I'm concerned)....14A is our PG-13.... it was the same version that played in the US... It was easily PG-13 fare and was not that intense and certainly didn't have the "great gore" scenes I was reading about on AICN before Scissorhands took a run at it... If your info about the Canadian edition came from IMDB, I'm almost sure that they're wrong...probably a fellow Canadian submitted that to make some of the US people jealous... because seriously...no gore, lots of cutaways and things not seen...and not in the good Hitchcock way, more in the "Let's cut this down for ratings" way....I'll definitely be checking out the unrated edition though, because I did enjoy the movie...even if it was for all the wrong reasons!

I can't find any OFFICIAL word about the Canadian release being the uncut version theatrically (just forum talk)... but if that's the case, wow... it certainly felt pretty tame ... as per usual then, the unrated cut really will be nothing special.

And in regards to movies like Closer and Jackie Brown being 14A, in Canada, the ratings board will let any movie that features suggestive/offensive language, no matter how many times the movie features said language etc. be 14A...we've got no problem letting youngsters hear about sex or swearing... now, if a movie has violence on top of that, there is a chance it'll go to (the new) 18A or R ratings, but usually unless it's extremely over the top or gratuitous (Blade comes to mind) they'll still let it pass with the 14A...of course that mostly was before the days of 18A, now a film like Jackie Brown would probably be 18A because of the violence... Closer was only 14A because it was all TALK... talk doesn't bother the canadian ratings board.

I have found that in most cases like this, you don't get a better movie, just a movie that is still shitty but with a few more shots of blood and gore.
I seem to recall hearing that any werewolf shots involving a puppet of close-up shot of the creature were the ones done by Rick Baker. So not all of his work is gone, just the action shots.
