Uwe Boll.

Steven Soderbergh would be great if they put out SEs of his earlier stuff (Sex, Lies..., The Limey, Out of Sight) as well as releasing R1 versions of Kafka and Gray's Anatomy.

What I really want would be a Roman Polanski box set. Or at least some special editions of Chinatown and Rosemary's Baby.

Budd Boetticher

Practically none of this man's work is available on DVD and that seriously needs to change.

Mitchell Leisen - He did some wonderful films for Paramount that may never see dvd release since Universal doesn't seem committed to their pre-1950 product the way that Warners is.

Easily Dario Argento.

It does help that most of his films are owned by Blue Underground or Anchor Bay.

Yes, definitely Zhang Yimou.

First director that came to my mind is Walter Hill. And if a Bernardo Bertolucci boxset would get "Luna" onto DVD, I'd love it.

For modern directors, Paul Schrader, David Mamet and Larry Kasdan

Majority of their titles are really primitive dvds or as yet unreleased.

Older would be more Altman, Wilder, Lubitch, Sturges, Ford and Huston.

For foreign, would agree with Zhang Yimou, Jodorowsky, Leigh, as well as Polanski, Bunuel

Zhang Yimou
Because we desperately need the release of Ju Dou and Raise the Red Lantern on DVD.

David Lean, which MGM/SONY seems to have all-but abandoned.
Also, early Hithcock, which MGM/SONY seems etc etc etc.

WILLIAM CAMERON MENZIES

One of the greatest production designers in movie history (he was responsible for the look of such classics as Thief Of Bagdad and Gone With The Wind) he also directed quite a few films, including:

Address Unknown
The Maze
The Spider
Things To Come
Invaders From Mars
(the original)

I second a Peter Greenaway boxset

- (as well as a Bunuell set - AFI here in Silver Spring MD is showing new 35mm prints of 'Phantom', 'The Milky Way', 'Viridiana' starting this weekend - woohoo!).

I'd like a Wenders box with:

The Goalkeeper's Anxiety At the Penalty Kick
Alice in the Cities
The Wrong Move
Kings of the Road

A Renoir box with:

Boudu Saved From Drowning (I have a R2 disc of this, however)
Toni
A Day in the Country
The Crime of Monsieur Lange
The Human Beast
