Disney Treasures Dilemma!

A cluessless friend of mine is moving. I went to help her pack and as a gift for helping her, she gave me a box of dvds that she got from relatives that she hadn't opened and didn't want.

When I got home, there were about a dozen UNOPENED DISNEY TREASURES!!!!!! The tins, not the bootlegs or the Costco deals. The originals!!! Since I already own copies, I want to sell them but have no idea what I should sell them for. I haven't been paying any attention to what they go for on Ebay, since I already had my own.

Any help would be appreciated!!!! Thanks!

Well, you can do your own research on eBay. Just go to buy, advanced search, and check completed auctions. Bam boom done.

You should really change the title of this thread to "How much are Disney Treasures going for?" because this thread title is extremely misleading (most people will think that it's info for upcoming titles, or worse, have no clue what it is about.

Cool! I didn't know I could do that! I've never bought anything on Ebay before!

Unless things have changed recently, the only one that is particularly valuable is the first volume of Mickey Mouse in Color. The others sell right around MSRP (sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more).

As DVD Josh says, the best way to see what something is 'worth' is to check past auctions on eBay.

Well, part of the fun of eBay is not knowing what it'll go for. That's why it's an auction . Depending on which wave, you should get at least ~$20 for each.

Or you can utilize the Exchange Forum to sell or trade.

Which ones did you get... being nosey

Hmmm... you may have to register first then. I'm not sure eBay allows non-members to search past auctions.

Not being nosey. She gave me one of each tin, all of them, from the very first. I think there are two Goofys and Mickey in Color, though. Gotta check again.

The Complete Goofy goes for around 50 and up. Silly Symphonies is also around 50.

I'd be interested in one of the Goofys - email me if we can work something out.

I sold a Mickey in Living Color Volume 1 on eBay for a little over $80 about 4 months ago. It was sealed and dent/scratch free. Maybe you could sell them in sets? I don't know if that would work better, but it's something to look into.

Are they dent free? If so, they could sell more...

I agree with 'g'. If this person is really a friend the right thing to do would be to at least offer to share the net sale profits with her. She might tell you to keep it all anyway, but it's highly unlikely she knew the value of the gifts she was giving you. JMHO.

Personally, I'd do the same thing. Share the proceeds with her.

I am interested in a few titles. Namely DisneyLand USA, Tomorrowland, Behind the Scences at the Walt Disney Studio and finally the Mikey Mouse Club. Let me know!

Ah Dalvin, you beat me to it. I have no interest in the animated treatures. I already have Tomorrowland, but I'd like to get Disneyland.

1 of each with 2 MMILC-1 and Goofy. Those things could be close to $500. If you're comfortable accepting that kind of gift, take it. I'd say not to sell them yet, though. Wait until Christmas time. People tend to shell out more around that time.

Let's not continue begging for titles here or trying to make deals. DeeKay has been advised to put these up in the Exchange Forum and you can wait to see if they show up there.

Thanks everyone! I apprecitate your advice. I'm gonna share the proceeds with my friend. I had planned on doing that all along. I'd be a terrible friend to take advantage of her "dvd ignorance"!

But I think I'm going to wait until Christmas and put them on the exchange and/or Ebay. But at least now I have an idea of how much to ask for them.

Thanks again!!!

Just as an FYI, I sold the first three waves as separate auctions last month. I was hoping to get $400 for them...and I got $405

A word of advice, set your mimimum bid low, say .99, run it a week and have it end on a sunday night.

DeeKay, I know this is coming kind of late in the game, but if you still have some and are willing to sell them direct, I'd be interested...
