American Psycho: Killer Collector's Edition 06.21.05

From Davis DVD

Lions Gate Home Entertainment has announced a couple of re-releases that definitely look interesting. Due on June 21st is American Psycho: Killer Collector's Edition. This third release of the film comes with an anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1, an audio commentary track (with director Mary Harron and screenwriter/actress Guinevere Turner), a second commentary track with various cast & crew, deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes footage, "Postcards from the 80s" new documentary and on-set interviews. Retail will be $19.98.

Thought this deserved its own thread. For more info on previous releases of this movie check out.

Yup but the extras are what's to die for

I'm guessing they'll have all the deleted scenes from R2 and hopefully some of those other extras well.

Good news. Will probably douple dip on this if it is the unrated version. Extras sound good. Hopefully they will bring over the extras from the TFI (?) french version as well.

Funny how they're releasing this a mere five days after Batman Begins comes out with Christian Bale in the lead... looks like a good thing though...

Oh I see. I have the UK R2 anyway, so I think I have those already. Doesn't seem much point in me double dipping on this one

Interesting. I have the old Uncut release from Universal, so i'll have to wait and see how the extras are on this release.

seriously, what's the point if not unrated? if they didn't release that info, is it likely that it is rated?

I'm a huge fan of this movie but I dont understand why you'd disregard hours of extras because the movie is missing the 15 SECONDS of extra footage the that unrated edition offers.

On the contrary, I'd imagine the "cut" scenes might be included only in the deleted scenes with commentary from Mary Harron and Guinevere Turner on why they were cut.
Of course, that's just speculation.

well, it isn't that i would disregard it, i have the German R2 so most likely have what will be there anyway, but would rather have an R1 uncut, see...

A re-release to give the title more visibility. It means the title would pick up shelf space in stores, and since the star of "American Psycho" is also starring in the next Batman movie, Lion's Gate wants to ride on its coattails with this title.

Which could be a strike against this edition being unrated, since, if they do want to cash in on the Bat-hype, they'll want it in as many stores as possible (ie, Wal-Mart).

Doesn't mean that the "cut" scenes couldn't end up in the deleted scenes section. (It's not uncommon to see "special features not rated" so they could slip in that way.)

again...there are no "uncut scenes." The only addition is one shot of Patrick getting head from the two pro's. That's it. It lasts MAX 10 seconds.

Well you do know there are plenty of stores like Best Buy which DO carry unrated/NC-17 titles right?

This is not a huge mainstream title,so trying to sell it to people who don't like it,or are not interested is rather pointless.

A smart thing to do which LG seems to forget about and compeltely ignore is. Either a dual-rated dvd release with R & Unrated versions on the same dvd...or separate R & Unrated releases. That way,it gets into every retailer.
