Karate Kid 2 is average, and I hate Karate Kid 3 and 4, so just the first one will be enough for me.

I thought they were filmed in 1.33:1 aspect and matted in a fake widescreen so that you're actually losing image the from non-widescreen aspect? I remember reading something about it a while back.

Anyways, nice about them being released seperately. I haven't seen the first three since I was a kid and wouldn't mind seeing them again.

This applies not only to Karate Kid, but also thousands of other 1.85:1 films. This is typically how 1.85:1 is achieved and is nothing special or bad.

While I was at first a bit annoyed upon learning they were doing an individual release of these movies after releasing the set, I really don't mind it now. I got the set for $23.74, so even just counting the first three, that's only $7.91 per film. I've never seen the fourth and haven't watched it yet.

And if I were to buy them individually, I'd have to get at least KK I and II. While the first is a classic, I find the second to be the better movie, largely because it doesn't have all that high school angst stuff that's present in the first - and in a few of my other old favorites - that seems kind of silly to my 33-year-old eyes now.

I have #2, so I guess I'll just get #1 rather than the box set.... i don't know if i want to subject myself to the last two given everyone's comments.

don't know if it's worthy of another thread, so i figured i'd post in this one.

picked up the Karate Kid:SE finally last week. for $9.99, it even comes with a karate kid bandana like the one in the movie (look for a big rectangular sticker on specially marked packages). don't remember seeing this bandana offered initially on the single releases?

got my copy at Circuit City. sticker is $14.99, but rang up as $9.99. i didn't notice this anywhere else, but then again, i wasn't actively looking for it until i ran across it there.

am at work now, so don't have access to my stuff. but the bandana is black/white like the one Mr. Miyagi and Daniel wears. comes sealed in a plastic bag inside the dvd keepcase. now i can catch flies with my chopsticks in style!

Cool, I was wondering about the color. Because in the movie it was actually blue/white. But close enough and nice extra for a dvd for sure.

I saw that version with the bandana at a Wal-Mart quite some time back. It was in their $9.44/$13.72 section, but it sold out or was replaced after a short while.
