ST 1st Contact not DD EX like ST Generations?

Why is Star Trek First Contact SCE not Dolby Digital EX like Star Trek Generations SCE? They both are 2 disk sets in very similiar looking cases. Why not be consistent and present First contract in DD EX as well. I don't understand how the older of the two movies has the newer audio format.

And while I'm ranting here, how come Generations has a DD EX track and only a standard DTS track? Most DVDs I've seen with a DD EX track also have DTS EX rather than just plain old DTS.

You do realize that the first six Star Trek movies have also came out in this format too, right? None of them had a DTS track, let along a DD-EX.

But The Next Generation movies are all newer films.

A disc doesn't have to be specifically flagged for EX/ES in order to matrix well into a back surround channel. Turn on the decoding anyway and see how it sounds.
