DVD Talk Platinum Edition
The first has the following special features:
-Commentary with director Amy Heckerling and writer Cameron Crowe
-"Reliving Our Fast Times at Ridgemont High" (Documentary)
-Production Notes
-Cast and Filmmakers
-Theatrical Trailer
-"Hangouts at Ridgemont High" (Video Map)
-Music Highlights
The second is the newer release. Looking at Amazon, the only features listed are the same ones available on the version I've got in my collection (those special features listed above are verbatim from the back of the DVD). Perhaps the transfer is better, or all of the features on the new edition aren't listed on Amazon.

Also strange that there's no Amazon listing for the version that I own (the top cover scan). If anybody has the new release, perhaps they can list all of the features listed on the back cover for you and respond in regard to whether or not the transfer is better or what.
Oh, another thing...I checked the Audio on the new release. Amazon has it listed as Dolby Digital 5.1. The back of mine has a Dolby Digital logo, and a "2.0 mono" note, so I'm not sure if the older version has a 5.1 track or not.
In other words...I can't help you at all and I'm just here to hear my own voice. ;)

Not that I know of. I've got the DVD here in front of me, and it's got all of the special features listed on the back (as well as a screenshot of the "Bonus Materials" menu). Neither make any mention of it. Perhaps it's in there under the "Theatrical Trailer" selection, featured in one of the documentaries, or hidden somewhere else...or maybe it's an Easter Egg, but it's not listed on the DVD.

DVD Talk Platinum Edition
Stopped by Best Buy an hour or two ago. While I was there, I decided to check out the Special Edition. It seems that the Special Features are the same, but under them was the line: "All New 5.1 Audio Track." I assume that's the difference between the two editions scanned in the OP, the top is a 2.0, the bottom a 5.1. Extras look to be the same on each.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High SE Audio
I bought the never version of Fast Times and I wasn't sure if I caught on that some of the music had changed. Did any of you others notice any changes in the music when you bought it?
