I'll chime in with the same exact sentiments. I've always disliked Insurrection, by far my least favorite Trek film. In fact, I believe I could only bring myself to watch it twice before, versus the dozens of times each that I've seen the others. Well, after watching it again tonight on DVD, I found myself thinking, "Hey, this is pretty good after all!" Believe me, no one is as shocked as I am. Hell, even the red couch on the the bridge made sense to me this time.
Fascinating.

I've always been in the minority -- in fact I've never met anyone who shared my feelings -- that Insurrection is the best of the TNG movies. It has flaws (all of the ST movies do), but it was an interesting story and it was closest to the tone of the show. I watched it again a couple of nights ago and I still like it.

Again, to echo the others here, initially, I hated Insurrection. But after watching it again last night (the first time since about 1999), it was surprisingly...not bad.
Still, the fundamental story flaws keep it from being "great" (as said in Star Trek II, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few; therefore, they should have been moved to benefit billions, albeit in a more humane, less Trail of Tears-esque way) and the humor is poor (boobs, zits, etc.). Plus, the primary bad guy (F. Murray Abraham's character) is just sort of whiny until the last half hour or so, and not much of a threat.
But it was still more entertaining than expected, and is no longer my least favorite Star Trek movie (that prize again goes to Star Trek V).

It's not my favorite Trek Entry but, It is still a very likeable film. My favorite has been and still is Star Trek 6 The Undiscovered Country!

I've always compared this movie with the 3rd season TNG episode "Who Watches the Watchers?" At least the movie starts out with basically the same premise as that episode. The Son'a part of the movie is definately a product of the movie itself.

I've always been in the minority, I love Insurrection. As someone sadi before me, it's my favorite TNG film. I never cared much for the fan favorite First Contact, becasue I always thought the Borg were incredibly stupid villians.

id rather have a prostate exam from Andre the Giant than watch Star Trek Insurrection again.
A movie that could have been really big in scope, and they made it so small. They didn't rebel against the Federation, they just disobeyed an obviously crooked admiral. Big Whoop.

Well, I finally got around to watching my copy (which finally came on the 13th) and like many here, I found a great new appreciation for the film. I haven't seen the film in years (probably one of the last WS VHS movies I ever bought) But like Jadow said above me, the plot about the crooked Admiral was not filled out enough. The Son'a weren't fully developed enough either. Seems like I remember more to that part, but I guess not.
What restored my favor to the film was the cool space combat scenes. After having finally seen all the 24th Century Trek series, I had more appreciation and knowledge of this "post-Dominion War" movie. The "briar patch" scenes were especially cool.
Seeing this movie again after all these years on DVD quality has got me anxiously awaiting the Nemesis CE, as I've never seen that movie all the way through, and never on DVD.
