Great news!

That will put the Season Two release around 6 months after the first season was released. I wonder if that's the schedule they'll keep...

Wasn't there a rumor initially that they were going to have seasons 3 and 4 released by the end of the summer?

Ah well, as long as they keep them coming it's all good.

DVDho78DTS 03-04-05 08:18 AM

Awesome! Thanks for the news.

Buford T Pusser 03-04-05 12:58 PM

I think originally they were putting out the first five seasons within a year or so.

Maybe sales are slow so the releases are also slow.

Just got this from TVShowsonDVD. David are you there?

Andy Griffith Show, The - Put that gun away, Barney...we've got a confirmed date!

Posted by David Lambert
3/04/2005

Barney Fife can save his one bullet; he doesn't have to fire his sidearm to find out when The Andy Griffith Show - The Comlete 2nd Season will arrive! Several weeks ago the gossip over the backyard fence was that this would hit stores on May 24th. Now DVDEmpire.com is confirming that date with their pre-order listing!

The online e-tailer says that this will contain " All 31 episodes from the second season of the classic TV show. Includes the beloved episodes: 'The Pickle Story', 'Barney And The Choir', and 'Andy On Trial.' " List price is $39.99, but DVDEmpire is only asking for $27.19 of that if you order it now!

Distributor Paramount Home Entertainment still hasn't sent out their official notice on this, but stay tuned and we'll bring you further details, plus cover art, just as soon as we can get 'em!

It's good to just get the shows, but I wish they could get some commentaries from those still alive. Most of the cast was looking pretty shaky last year.

According to the article posted above season 2 is currently available to pre-order at DVDEmpire. I would assume other stores will soon follow, if they haven't already.

You've got to be kidding me!? I haven't bought this set YET, but I was planning on it. I may wait until I hear more on this.

Is this on every disc, and can you use chapter skip or fast forward buttons to get around it?

If it's anything like the first season of The Brady Bunch (also released by Paramount), it's only on the first disc. It's true that the menu button doesn't work, but you can get around it by chapter-skipping past the previews.

spawndude 05-26-05 03:13 PM

There are also only three cases. 2 disks in the first two cases and 1 disk in the third case. A total of 5 disks.
The forced commercials are annoying.

The commercials can be skipped quite easily. On a side note, the company listened to fans and included the original commercials from the series, with Andy and crew hawking various consumer products. If you have any questions the review doesn't answer, feel free to email me about it. :)

Thanks for the information. That's good to know that the commercials can be bypassed easily, also glad they included some extras this time. Hopefully in the future they can add some material involving the surviving cast members.

Cameron 05-27-05 07:53 AM

last year most of the surviving cast did a stage play, and meet and greet....i think they called it mayberry memories or something...It was basically just them recreating scenes from classic episodes. I missed it, but heard they filmed it. Not sure if they were traveling around doing this, or if it was just for nashville.

i wanted to meet don knotts...bummer

Buford T Pusser 05-27-05 01:36 PM

Hadn't heard of that play. Interesting.

Cameron 05-28-05 12:19 PM

i found a link to the show they did in 2001...but nothing from last year... i hope they come again soon.

and my hope came true...just found this at the hotel site

Mayberry Cast Reunion
June 17-19, 2005
Mayberry Cast Reunion, featuring a Mayberry Mystery Dinner Theater, Question and Answer session with the actors, autograph session, Mayberry Bible Study, and theme contests.

Buford T Pusser 05-28-05 12:54 PM

Same place this year? Sadly I'm busy that weekend.

Cameron 05-28-05 12:58 PM

yes the opryland hotel in nashville

Houstondon 05-30-05 06:03 PM

Well, the extras got better with season two so maybe later seasons will offer even more (I agree that they better act fast since the remaining cast members are getting old though). I'm curious as to how much more fans would pay for the better extras though (the main reason why the producers would add such features)...
