I think the glowing red eyes of number six is kind of dumb, but other than that not bad..

I disagree. I think that's what makes it look cool. Without the glowing eyes, and with Tricia Helfner just standing there, it'd just be another cover with "floating heads" so-to-speak. The glowing eyes says Battlestar Galactica.

Really jazzed about the inclusion of the miniseries and the commentaries. (Fortunately I never bought the standalone miniseries. Didn't get into the series until halfway through season one, tried to rent the mini but no stores near me had it. Very nearly bought it, but decided against it just in case they included it in the season set.)

It shows she's a cylon...but is it actually something she'd done in the show? I guess itr doesn't really matter, and adds to the cover..but I guess it does add to it..I just thought it looked strange..

I think that her eyes may have glowed red once or twice but I can remember the exact scene(s).

It is funny how we all remember her spine glowing during the "hanky panky" scene. Wonder why that is??????

Looks like BB first week price will be about $48...but I'm still holding out for the US release later this year. If it offers less than the UK version BB is selling, I'm sure there will be plenty of copies floating around.

Less??? Have you read the specs on the official R1 release (Pilot's post #79 in this thread)? Unless you call including the mini-series, many commentaries/podcasts, and other featurettes, less, then by all means, pick-up the bare-bones UK release.

I hadn't read the specs...hence my statement. The UK version does contain 48-minutes of deleted scenes, so it's not exactly "bare bones" - but your point is taken.

How does this compare to the original series (which i have never seen either).

I've only seen the pilot of the new series so far and it is FAR better than the entire old series (although the old series is significantly dated now so maybe that needs to be taken into consideration). IMHO unless you are into 70s TV SciFi I would just completely skip the old series.

Arghh! I'm also aggrevated about the way these releases have been handled. I held off on buying the miniseries... and held off... and held off... and held off... and then when the details of the Best Buy set were revealed, I went ahead and purchased the miniseries (literally like 2 weeks ago). Because... I assumed that the Best Buy release would be the same as the general release, just earlier. Because... there was no information to the contrary. But no... it couldn't be that simple, could it? It had to be a convoluted release process. Which fooled me into double-dipping on the miniseries. Arghhhh.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I bought the mini-series back when it was released last December, and I still feel jipped.

Well, thanks, but you know lately, deleted scenes aren't doing much for me anymore. Most of the time, they're deleted for a reason. The only time I really care is if they're completed scenes (with all their F/X) like Lucas does for the Star Wars DVDs and how Peter Jackson (basically) did with the LOTR-EEs.

Well, when the "details of the Best Buy release were revealed," it was clear that was the UK version, which we always knew didn't include the mini. Since precedent says that UK releases of US TV series are very frequently different from the R1 release, I think you were making an unfounded assumption. But I feel for ya, buddy.

I too assumed the mini would not be included, but I always assumed the R1 release would have different features from the UK version. That would be normal.

You know, as I general rule, I avoid shopping at Best Buy. The lure of getting the set two months early was enough to make me break my rule, but I'm not interested in breaking my rule for half a set. So thanks for letting me stand by my principles, Universal and Best Buy!

whats different about the uk version of the show?

becides the opening credits & music, nothing I believe.

The updated version is easily the best sci-fi on TV right now and (IMO) the best since Babylon 5 and Deep Space Nine went off the air. It blows the original of the water in every possible way.
