Short Cuts

Overstock shows 2 versions of the Criterion Short Cuts, and the only difference I see is the covers look slightly different? Is this just a double post by them (though the prices are also slighlty different), or does anyone know what's up with this?

Some pics could be helpful, I can only think of maybe one release haveing the re-print of the short stories and the other just being the 2-disc.

The Criterion is only available as a 2-disk with the book.

I think Short Cuts was previously released by New Line a few years ago, for a very brief period of time, so maybe the other entry is a leftover from that?

I don't recall there ever being a version (region 1 at least) of Short Cuts other than the recently released Criterion version.

Does Overstock even have the best price? Do you have a coupon? Is this why?

Both Criterion, slightly different price and cover. I wasn't sure if Criterion did a re-release or something.

That release never actually happened (which is why no one is offering used copies).

You sure? I must be confused with the Region 2 then. There was definitely a very brief release in one region.

Probably. One of the R2 countries had it.

no, there was never a region 2 release either. New Line had announced an R1 long ago but never released it and eventually cancelled it. the Criterion edition is the first DVD release for this film... in any region... ever.

No there definitely was a previous release and it was one of the Region 2 countries, as djtoell mentioned. It was only available for a short time, so only a few people got it. I just checked it in DVD Profiler and it was Region 2 Spain. Local language title "Vidas Cruzadas".

I found this thread about it here:

http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=107773

And you can see a retail entry for it here:

http://www.dvdgo.com/product.asp?cat...dvd=Short+Cuts

If you click to view the back cover, you can see what looks to be a limited serial number imprinted in the bottom right corner.
