Man, no one claimed Pink Floyd – Live At Pompeii as one of their faves! It must be mine.

I also love watching the early Roxy Music (with Brian Eno) tear through their best songs from their first two albums on The Best of MusikLaden Live (with T. Rex). The Best of MusikLaden Live DVDs have lots of great archives of rare old performances worth tracking down including Al Stewart, Yes, Ike & Tine Turner, Kool and the Gang, Procol Harum and others. They were reissued twice and went OOP twice!

Speaking of archival material the Live Aid DVD set is great.

Also never noted by anyone else: the historic Ziggy Stradust: The Motion Picture by D.A. Pennebaker, documenting David Bowie's retirement of his Ziggy Stardust persona (Where would Marilyn Manson be without Ziggy?!).

I also love watching Peter Gabriel with Genesis in the early live snippets on their biography DVD Genesis Songbook. His video on Play are amazing, too.

Finally, Daft Punk's entire album done to Leiji Matsumoto's animation is a trip.

I have many music videos not noted earlier. You can check them out here with their cover art:

It'd be great to see more 80s stuff... especially The Cure's "Paris" and "Show"...

...some Howard Jones "Last World Dream", "Like To Get To Know You Well" and "Howard Jones: Live in Japan" also... ;)

But my current faves are: Cure-Trilogy, Rush-Rio, Genesis-The Way We Walk.

I agree that there is a serious hole in which Bob (Robert Smith) could fill w/ Cure DVDs.

Staring at the Sea, Play Out, In Orange, Show/Paris, MTV Unplugged (prob owned wholly by MTV) -

All of these titles would be immediate buys for me, as I count The Cure as my #1 fav group of all time.

Napalm Death - The DVD (2 show, 1 DVD)
Slayer - Still Reigning
Slayer - War at the Warfield
Slipknot - Disasterpieces (Multi camera angle kicks all ass on "People=Shit")
Superjoint Ritual - Live in Dallas, Texas

I did own NIN's "..and all that could have been..", but it just sounded too clean, and overproduced to enjoy. On the other hand, Superjoint Ritual's "Live at CBGB'S" was just garbage.

Maxflier 04-19-06 02:15 PM

I only own 2 music DVD's:

Rammstein: Live aus Berlin
Rammstein: Lichtspielhaus

My wife and I really get some good use out of our music DVDs.... Friends love to come over and take in the great sounding concerts. Some of our favorites are:

Metallica: S&M (Sounds great and 2 discs of music.)

Concert for George (Amazing how this music just picks you up and gets you boppin'. Great for cleaning or cooking...)

3 Doors Down: Away From the Sun (Great selection of music. The songs get better and better. Only complaint, it was too short.)

Others I own:

Destiny's Child: Live in Atlanta
No Doubt: Rock Steady Live
Live Aid
Led Zeppelin (2 disc set)
U2: Vertigo
The Doors: Soundstage Performances/No One Gets Out Alive (2 disc set)
Spears, Brittney: Greatest Hits: My Perogative (My wife's...but I might sneak a glimpse..LOL)
Beyonce: Live at Wembley
Sade: Lovers Live
Dave Mathews Band: Live at Folsom Field
Sting: The Brand New Day Tour (My first DVD. Came free with my first DVD player)
The Doors: Live in Europe

Really glad to see others are so interested in these, cause I am always searching for great concerts to see/experience.

Fans of '70 hard rock or metal should check out Deep Purple Live in Concert 72/73.

The first concert shot in Copenhagen is the best almost 2-hours of Purple's great songs and Ian Gillian can really scream those high notes epecially in Child in Time. The second concert shot in NY was from ABC In Concert and it's edited but it the only concert that has Smoke on the Water but was cut short, very disappointed. Still I highly recommend this DVD just for the Copenhagen show.

Judas Priest - Live Vengeance '82
Judas Priest - Rising in the East
KISS - Rock the Nation Live
Iron Maiden - The Early Years
Iron Maiden - Live After Death (when it comes out on DVD - hopefully by '07)
Dio - Evil or Divine
Deep Purple - Total Abandon Live

The Music DVD's I have:

Incubus - Volume 2
Mix of the videos they had up to 2001 + live footage (acoustic and not)

Placebo - Soulmates Never Die - Live in Paris 2003
Tour documentary + concert (includes Frank Black of The Pixies for Where is my Mind)

Placebo - Once More With Felling - Videos 1996-2004
Mix of their videos, interview + video of performances with David Bowie (Brit Awards 99) and Justin Warfield (Reading Fest 00)

The Best of Glastonbury 1994-2004 - Glastonbury Anthems
Concert footage of mainly British groups/musicians at the Glastonbury Festival over the years + docu about the festival.

Would Like to see:

Third Eye Blind - they have a ton of footage filmed but now with no label who knows when that will happen.

More Placebo - they're better live IMHO. Would love to see some vids of them here in the US as they usually play big places overseas. There's a goofy bit of them with Josh of QOTSA up in Portland, I think, in the OMWF DVD. So I'd like the entire concert of that one since it was obviously filmed.

Digigeek06 04-23-06 07:53 AM

The Eagles - Farewell 1 Tour - Live From Melbourne (2005)

The Eagles - Hell Freezes Over (DTS version 1994)

Styx - Return to Paradise (1996)

Metallica: Cunning Stunts (1998)

onabudget 04-24-06 12:27 PM

Coachella (16x9 anamorphic, 5.1 DTS/DD)

Just watched it. Video is kind soft at the begging but then improves. The sound is awesome

Will anyone ever release a nice David Lee Roth-era live Van Halen show on DVD?

The 1984 US Festival would be neat to have.

That was 1983. I have a boot of it but would be great to get a high quality remaster from the original source. There are a few others which were televised, but I wonder if anyone had access to the original masters.
