I have two to recommend:
Shakira: MTV Unplugged. This DVD is just incredible in how good it sounds. The Dolby Digital track is just the best I've heard for a concert. I play this DVD whenever I want to show off my home theater. It is one of my favorites and don't let it put you off because it's in spanish. Rent it, buy it, or borrow it, but at least try to get a chance to listen to this magnificent DVD. Second choice, Usher: Live Evolution 8701 There aren't many R&B concerts, but this is one of few great one's out. This DVD comes with three audio tracks (DD5.1, DTS, PCM) for your choosing. This is a very entertaining and great sounding DVD. |

incubus' recent "Alive at Red Rocks" is a great concert DVD. Top notch production with a 5.1 mix, anamorphic 1.85:1 transfer, great location, and some behind the scenes footage.
|
Are there and if so, what are the best sites on the net that show what concerts are available on dvd?

What concert movie would you like to see released soon? List your music dvds here and I'll try to make some kind of 'master' list... The ones I own; Alice In Chains - MTV Unplugged G3 - Live In Denver G3 - Live In Concert Metallica - Cunning Stunts Pearl Jam - Touring Band Steve Vai - Live At The Astoria London |
Just discovered this thread and don't have anything that hasn't already been mentioned. Stuff I'd like to see:
The Who-Farewell concert from Toronto in '82(?). Was on CBS/Fox tape Fleetwood Mac- Mirage tour concert that was on Columbia Home Video Clapton- HBO concert from 1985 The Firm- Their very first show in London. MTV aired a portion once, the entire show was broadcast on the radio. The Kinks-One For the Road Roxy Music-The Long Road. Wass a Columbia tape. Is this out? Rolling Stones- Steel Wheels concert that was on Pay Per View. Clapton and John Lee Hooker joined them for a blues set. David Gilmour- 1984 tour. Was on MTV. Bob Welch concert that was on MTV in '82 with Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie. Don't know how well it holds up but wouldn't mind seeing REO- Live-Infidelity again |

Guys, make sure you get the new Black Crowes' Live at the Filmore concert dvd.
I was actually at the LA shows they did a month after that Filmore show, and the dvd captures their amazing, ROCKING performance wonderfully. They have really come into their own, and are one of the best live bands in the business right now. The dvd has a fairly full 2.5 hour show with 20 songs. The video is good, and it's got a pretty good DTS (thogh the 2.0 is kinda weak). If you like good rock&roll, it's a no-brainer, especially at around $10. |
Talking Heads - Stop Making Sence - Best. Live. DVD. Ever.
NIN - All that could have been. Tenacious D - Masterworks For videos.... Talking Heads - Storytelling Giants---Its in the 4 disc long book set. Marilyn Manson - Lest We Forget: The Best Of bonus disc waiting for an XTC video compilation |
Opeth - Lamentations

Could we add audio and video specs to the list?
U2 - Vertigo 2005: Live From Chicago Excellent quality. 16x9 anamorphic, 5.1 DTS!/DD |
Pearl Jam-Live at the Garden
Audio Slave:Live from Cuba Alice in Chain's-Unpluged The Up in Smoke Tour Bone Thug's-Best of Video's |
Ditto on:
The Cure: Trilogy NIN: AATCHB Somone mentioned the re-release of Closure. I just looked it up on wiki: "A DVD version of Closure is forthcoming, but has already been delayed for several years. Reznor has indicated that it is now in the hands of Interscope, and the latest news on the DVD is about the work on the menus [11]. Reznor has indicated that he would like to release remastered surround sound editions of Pretty Hate Machine, Broken/Fixed and The Fragile [12]. However, the Rykodisc reissue of Pretty Hate Machine does not contain a surround sound mix [13]. In March 2006, two of NIN's live shows were filmed in high definition with a view to a possible future DVD release [14]" |
