wow...that was quick
I posted the thread after coming home from the mall with the DVD and then tonight it is already sold out online.
I waited to post about it until I had it in my hands already.
I didn't want to walk into the store either, but figured it was a way to save on shipping. And now I am glad that I did because it is sold out online.
Hope you guys get it at the stores.
BTW, I hadn't bought the DC yet because I didn't have the money. But then when I saw this...I found the money.

I called the store today when I got off work and the clerk told me they had four left. When I got there about an hour later there were only two left. The cashier seemed to think when these are gone then that is all there is. In any event, I really like the way it looks and i'm glad I got my hands on one. I've put a couple of pictures up on my pbase page in case anyone would like to have a look at the front and back of the tin.

I was leaning towards just leaving it sealed. I hauled off and bought a regular copy of this at Best Buy on release day and unfortunately i've already unwrapped that one.

BAW HA HA HA HA. do you folks actually believe that this will be your retirement home down payment? The reason why most "LE" dvds back in the day are worth so much now is because of the ability to get them. Hot Topic will be restocking this like crazy. i don't recall reading or hearng that it was actually numbered so the whole "Limited Edition" on this means jack shit.
Buy it, crack it open and enjoy it. I walked by a hot topic today and they had atleast 19 of these on the shelf. Trust me, if it's anything like any other hot topic "exclusive" It will be there for a while.

Hey, thanks for setting me straight. I was counting on paying for my kids college tuition with a few of my dvds. Heck, I was on the verge of cashing out my 401k to long-term invest in dvds. Listen, tommorow morning when you are waxing the mall floor could you peek into Hot Topic and see if they have any more of those Nightmare Before Christmas LE's? They didn't have any here locally and I feel like it's time to diversify my portfolio a bit. BAW HA HA HA HA

indeed. perhaps you should also run into a comic shop and buy all those foil covers.
worth millions!
All that I'm saying is hot topic is a trendy store and has hundreds of stores. There idea of limited edition is to make sure everyone buys buys buys. These aren't numbered right? Then they will be around for some time to come. I don't see the point of tossing the whole sky is falling mentality in here to rush out and buy one since they are going fast. They'll equelly come back just as fast so Hot topic can do what it paid big bucks on this exclusive item to do. Make money off it.
In many cases, lots of stores may not even have gotten their shippments of it. Different locations get stuff at different times. I know when those invader zim exclusive figures were first shipped different stores had recieved theirs at different times of various weeks. But I'll make sure to update you on the latest stuff when I'm mopping the floor.
You may also want to read one post above where I mentioned the whole nightmare before christmas dvd still being around. Just have to look a bit. Want me to update you also on any new Napoleon Dynamite shirts they get? I'm sure those will also be worth a pretty penny. But what does a lonely ol' janitor know? Other than how to spit shine a toilet, is all.

By all means, if you like the movie and you like the way the tin looks. Buy this. It's actually pretty cool and I've been debating if I should pick it up myself.
But the idea that this is going to sell out and not come back into stock or that the "LIMITED EDITION" tag on it means anything other than it's exclusive to a store that over saturates everything it touches or that it is a gimmick to sell dvds is really out there.
stuff like this:
start to create a false sense of value of the dvd. Look at AVP and the BBV exclusive bust. First day folks were killing each other for them and ebay auctions were going for over 100 (good job scott). The a day later they dropped down to selling for what the store sold them at.
Leaving a DVD sealed should only happen for one reason. Because you have a long que list and that is on the bottom of it. I have tons of wrapped dvds. But none of them are sealed because I'm sitting on a "collectors item". This isn't numbered. Hot Topic paid a good buck for this sort of exclusive. You bet that they will be cranking out more as the demand is high for them.
That's all I'm saying.

I bought one at Hot Topic since I had a 15% off card to use (I have alot thanks to a buddy who works there...) so for $25.50 after the discount, its pretty cool. The necklace is crap, but the tin is nice since in embossed, and I like the greenish/grey color to it.
I'm just glad no animals were hurt in this movie.

Are you certain that you aren't mildly retarded? The only reason I didn't open my tin is clearly because I have an open or unsealed version of this very same movie that I just bought at Best Buy. So, why would I want to open the tin and have it get scratched up when I said that I bought it for the way it looks? Now, please run along and pawn your computer today and lose the claim ticket.

I just noticed that there are already two auctions for this on ebay. One is selling for 42.98 with 3 days left and the other has a picture of the necklace for those who were wanting to see it.
