Naw. I gave up Cable TV in 1999 because I consider it a waste of money. I might consider it again if the prices came way down. I prefer to watch LD's or DVD's now. I will still watch the occasional over the air HD programs and sporting events which is enough TV for me. I occasionally consider getting it again when good stuff shows on TCM but that's about it.

I bought my widescreen set a couple of years ago and promptly cancelled my cable service. DVDs are pretty much all I watch, I have 4 over the air stations in my town and I'll watch sports or Conan O', something like that every so often (usually watch the "big" games with my buds at the local watering hole). Don't miss it (cable tele) at all. Heck, I haven't even bothered getting a tuner and antenna for my HDTV.

Never had interest in American TV. The common denominator in American movies is low enough.

'Bout the only thing I watch on tv is the Newshour on PBS. Can't stand the other news shows. Last tv series I watched on a regular basis was Buffy and I now have all of that on dvd.
Life is way too short to waste much time watching tv - especially now with the large selection of great movies on dvd. So when I turn on the tube it is almost always to watch a dvd.

I don't have cable or a local signal coming into my place. Its been this way for almost 2 years. Not so much because of DVDs but because cable in any form costs way too much. When most of my time is spent playing video games or watching a movie I have no desire to pay $50 for something I'd watch at most 2 hours a day. Sometimes I miss watching CNN or another news channel, but they're really just repeating the same things through out the day.

Now if a good TV show comes out to rave reviews I know a DVD release will soon follow. So I'll just wait a few months and watch it commercial free.

Yes, I watch very little tv, but I do watch a ton of TV on DVD.

This answer may be obsolete after next week. If all goes well my Voom will be up and running Monday. I am sure I will watch that a lot for awhile. I will be geting several channels I really wanted that cable did not offer - SPEED, NFL, etc in addition to all those HD channels. I think the monster channel is going to be on alot.

I do not however foresee a huge decline in my DVD viewing. I would say I will cut back to one each day. Now I usually get in two or a few episodes of TV on DVD and a movie.

After we installed the dedicated HT room, we decided that we were going forward as a DVD only home. We have no broadcast or cable tv. Strictly DVD only, but we have a TON of Tv on DVD, and get more all the time.

If anything I am watching more on tv now! I am still shocked by the fact that three of my favorite shows(Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal, Lost) on right now are on ABC!! I haven't watched anything on ABC in years!!

Like alot of other people I use a DVR to record everything so commercials are not a problem!

Take care all!!

I used to watch alot more TV than I do now. The Simpsons and maybe a Discovery or Learning Channel special. It just seems like a waste of time to watch junk on the tube when I have so many DVDs to watch. If there's a show I like, such as Lost or 24, I'll just buy the DVD set when it comes out.

Pretty close for me too. I hardly watch TV anymore. Our cable provider doesn't provide HD until March 15th, so we'll see what happens then. I still can get ABC and NBC in HD over the air, so Monday Night Football and Lost are necessities in the HD realm. With the exception of the following it's all DVD's all the time.

1. Lost
2. American Idol
3. Sports (Cubs, Hawkeye football & basketball, NFL)
4. Battlestar Galactica (still haven't quite got into this show yet, but I'll give it a few more chances)

And that's it!!!

I miss the news from time to time (9/11 comes to mind) but I keep current via newspaper, radio and the Internet.

I always wanted the Sci-Fi Channel but since they cancelled Farscape, I just make do with the DVD sets.

I hardly bother much with TV except for news and sports. I can't stand the thought of waiting a week between watching programmes, particularly something like 24. Can't stand the commercials either.

I lost interest in TV about 15 yrs ago when widescreen movies became available on laserdisc. I have always been more of a movie fan than a TV show fan so when laserdisc started doing widescreen, I rarely watched much TV except for sports.
But since getting HDTV services that has completely changed. I now watch HBO, SHOWTIME, and HDnet MOVIES HD channels a LOT because the quality is the best ever, most of them are widescreen OAR, and there is a lot of things I would never buy or rent on DVD that I would watch on HD CATV just because "it's there". HDnet Movie channel in fact shows quite a few movies that are not available on DVD yet which is always interesting.....

Between DVDs which I love and reality TV which I hate, I only regularly watch Lost and 24 on network TV. I do enjoy the original series on FX; The Sheild, Nip/Tuck, and Rescue Me.
