Nominated movies released prior to the ceremony - do you buy or wait?
The Oscar-nominated Ray was just released, and it is nominated for several awards including Best Picture and Actor - Jamie Foxx. Will you wait to buy to see if it will win the awards so it can be printed on the DVD cover in future releases, or will you be content with the current DVD cover?

That stuff would make no difference to me... including the idea of owning a DVD solely based on the fact that it won an Oscar, which is all about campaigning, popularity and Hollywood insider back-patting, not artistic merit.

I would hate the extra marketing associated with great movies. I think it detracts from nice packaging. I buy for the movies and possible extras not for the blatant advertising. Look what they did with "Eternal Sunshine..." and that was months before the Oscar's. The older release of "Lost in Translation" had that obnoxious banner on the top and the fact I remember that makes it just plain ugly! (fantastic movie, but I already knew that prior to buying)
