What's your DVD per month Average?

Oh my!!
After reading this thread I went and counted my DVD's. I have five bookcases full of opened and two bookcases full of unopened DVD's. That DVD I just "had to have" 10 months ago hasn't even been watched yet.
In the first four years I averaged 45 a month. Now I have cut back to about 1 or 2 a week. I hope I can cut back further, but that is going to take some major therapy.
I just did a quick inventory of the opened DVD's and I have approximately 1/2 of my collection that I have seen only once. I should have rented some of these for sure.

I bought more in the early years (1998-2000), but still have an average around 8/month, but nowadays, I rarely buy more than 4/month, unless DDD has their 20% sale going on, then it's AWWNNNN, baby!

I would say 1, there just aren't that many movies that come out today that i want to own, and pretty much all of the older movies that i like are already available and in my collection except for 5 that aren't available yet, i'm not a blind buyer so that definately keeps my number down, i won't own a movie if i don't like it.

I buy mostly box sets and TV-on-DVD; and I usually spend about $30-$60 per month.
Total number of discs is: 308 (includes multi-disc special editions, TV-on-DVD sets of 4 to 6 discs, etc). Owed a DVD player since 2001. Months player owned: 46.
That's 6.69 discs a month since I got the player. Hum--more than I thought.
That's 78 films, and 76 TV series sets (set being defined as HOWEVER it was released--by season/series, as a "complete" collection, or by sets).

I've averaged about 50 per year for six years, but due to replacements, boxed sets (which lead to varying totals), and discs I've sold off, I have yet to reach 300. I'd say, about, 3-4 a month?

A little over 14, but that is decieving as I have sold off hundreds. I would say if it was not for selling off, it would be more like 18-20 a month.
WOW, that number even amazes me. No wonder my backlof is triple digit.

My overall average is 13.35/Month (761/57 Months)
However, the last 2 years, It's over 20 a month. I had a light January, with only 18 purchases, but 4 of those were TV seasons. In December I picked up 30.
This month so far I've bought 4 (Or 7 if I count The Karate Kid Collection as separate titles). Two of those are TV seasons.

I think I have had a DVD player since 1999 or 2000, so for the...
5 year average = 5.86/mo.
4 year average = 7.33/mo.
Though I really didn't start truly collecting until 2 years ago...
2 year average = 14.66/mo.
Either ways, I think those averages are just crazy (only my opinion)!

Wouldn't really be an accurate measurement for me anyway. I have a large turnover of DVDs. I buy, I watch, I keep some and the rest exit the collection sharply.
But using your measure, I come out as 21.9 per month.
Including all DVDs ever purchased, I calculate it at around 47.2 per month.

Interesting thread! I average about 16 dvds a month since I got a dvd player in July 2000. But a lot of that comes from working at a retail store for a year that offered 50% off used dvds.

I got my first player in Dec. of 2000, but since I didn't start buying regularly until mid-2002, I'm only averaging 6.4 titles a month. Obviously that needs to be taken with a grain of salt, considering the influx of buying that took place in 2002.
