Chasing Amy 10th Anniv DVD release
Sure, it's a little early to announce it (two years away, I guess), but there will, apparently, be a 10th anniversary re-release for 'Chasing Amy'.
I say this because Kevin Smith just announced, via his website, that they will be screening "Chasing Amy" at the end of March (along with other films, some produced by him, one the "Lovely Tea Party" documentary) in LA, and taping a Q&A which, according to the announcement, is being shot for inclusion on the 10th anniversary 'Amy' disc.

My guess -- strictly a guess, since there's no official word either way -- is that it would not be Criterion. I don't think Disney would want to deal with Criterion again unless Kevin Smith insisted on it, and I don't know that he would (or that they'd care to listen). Since his movies are so profitable on DVD, they probably would not want to share that with Criterion, even if Criterion helps with the cost.

boy, Kevin Smith is milking the fuck out of the cash cow! I'm really getting sick of all these different versions when the original "collector's edition" has more than enough stuff on it. maybe he should be making better movies than constantly releasing new versions of his films. don't get me wrong, I adore Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy, but Smith really seems to have changed into a different person.

Damn, Kevin Smith, how about you make new movies instead of re-releasing every old one you made. Not that I was a big fan of him in the first place but I think less and less of him every year.

Does Mallrats need a new DVD release, especially after how full-blown the initial one was? Maybe not. Will I buy it? Yes. There are NUMEROUS things missing from the current release (television version with commentary which Smith really wants to have on there, additional deleted scenes, MTV special from 1995, etc) that could easily be on the new release that I would fork over the money for.
Does Chasing Amy need a new DVD release, especially after Smith claimed that EVERYTHING was already on the current DVD? No. But I'll probably fork over the dough to get a new transfer and maybe a retrospective documentary (if done like the Snowball Effect).

And I'm also hoping we don't have to wait until the tenth anniversary of 'Jersey Girl' to see the extended cut.

Not much, since it's *so* cheap, but a bit.
