How many DVD rentals have you Lost?

I'm starting this thread because I just started a DVD rental service about two months ago. I sent all 8 of my movies back at the same time and only 3 mailers (2 DVD's each) arrived, and I sent the movies back over two weeks ago. Now they are asking me if I'm sure I sent them in... yadda yadda yadda.

I had this happen once before with another rental place and 3 times with Netflix. The three from Netflix were from the same mailbox on a Navy base I used to work at and I heard other people say the same thing about their mail not getting through using that mailbox.

So I guess in 3 years of renting I have officially lost 6 DVD's any interesting stories about losing DVD's?

Had problems with the same mailbox? Other people had problems with the same mailbox? I think I'm onto something here...

Someone is probably stealing them in the mail...Netflix investigated a post office in Florida and found a postal worker had stolen hundreds of DVDs...

I've only lost a couple in about a year of renting. At my old apartment, i had reported one as lost (one of the discs from My So Called Life), then more than two months later i find that and an old issue of Entertainment Weekly on my doorstep. Must have gotten mixed in with a neighbor's mail, and they finally got around to returning it.

Define "lost". Cause there was a couple of BBV OOP dvds that I seem to have the bad luck of "losing".

2 or 3. I left them at church a few years ago. I looked around, but could not find them. Church was at a hotel, so who knows where they ended up.

I few dvds got lost in the mail either going to/or leaving from NetFlix. I think one problem is those dvd mailers they use are so easy to spot. More and more people are becoming familiar with them and thus I think more and more will get "lost in transit". At least they're pretty good about not charging you for the lost dvd.

I had one while I was doing Netflix that I reported lost, but it somehow showed up in my mailbox about 2-3 weeks later and the packaging was all ripped up.

I haven't lost any, (and certainly never "lost" any), but I did have one DVD arrive in my mailbox shattered into smithereens.

I've had four go missing on their way either to or from Netflix. Three of them eventually turned up at, or somehow made their way back to, Netflix.

a long, long time ago i "lost" an rented VHS tape of "A Fistful of Dynamite" which was OOP. I don't feel bad about doing it as they insisted I pay $15 to "replace" it.

Well I got an email saying that they have finally received my two lost movies. They arrived about a week after the other three (which were mailed at the same time) arrived.

I've had a few not show up, a few not get back......funny thing is, when I was with Blockbuster some of em would show up as being received MONTHS after being sent back. Weird. Of late if I don't receive a disc from Netflix in 6 days I'm on their site bitching; usually the title will show up a few days afterwards, but I'm not going to meekly sit by while they start this slow down crap they've initiated. One turnaround per week seems reasonable to me considering I'm about an hour from their Indianapolis distribution center.
