My favorite "blind buy" was the first Zatoichi movie.

Ironic, ain't it?

Wow, I really didn't want to read that regarding Firefly. I was hoping for at least a sequel to Serenity.

I'm three episodes from the end of Firefly and then I'll watch Serenity on DVD. This is one of the best series I've ever seen. Like most of the viewing public, I missed it when it originally aired.

I love the characters and the sense of family between the crew members. I love the plot twists and the clear sprit of fun woven throughout this show.

(And FWIW, it's not coming back according to Whedon in a recent Entertainment Weekly article, either as a TV or sequel to Serenity. A shame.)

Most of my purchases are of foreign imports so i have to blind buy them based on reviews and/or reputation.

This year, CRYING FIST was my best buy (blind or otherwise); it's an amazing film. A BITTERSWEET LIFE was another.

I bought MY LITTLE BRIDE becuase it had been received so well, depsite the fact that it seemed (from the synopses) to be topically and thematically not at all interesting. Glad i was rong.

even if you listened to him on the commentary for "Serenity" you knew that. he said the saga is complete and he is totally and utterly at peace with everything that has transpired, especially making the movie that shouldn't have been.

I fear blind buys. I'm very, very cheap. But for $4.27, that was an amazing blind buy that I'm very pleased with.

Serenity and Firefly are definitely my best blind buys.

BTW, comments left by Joss himself on http://whedonesque.com confirm that what he said in EW was taken out of context. Who knows if he'll revisit the Firefly verse but there is still a possibilty.

Once Upon A Time In The West. I had never seen it on VHS and I was a Leone fan so I bought it on the advice of a friend right when it came out. Now it's in my top 3 of all time.

TV: Freaks & Geeks. Exceeded all the hype.
Film: Sullivan's Travels. Holy shit, what a great movie. And now among AFI's Top 100 Greatest of All-Time. Hopefully that alone will expose thousands more to its greatness!
