from a post at HTF

I'm glad they'll be in 16:9, but according to that PR release, MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL is the *CUT* 85 minute version, with "When Love is Gone" excised.

With that song (so vital to the movie) missing -- cut because of Disney studio interference -- I'll have to keep my laserdisc spinning (and make that DVD-R copy!).

This is a big disappointment and quite curious -- wasn't the 4:3 DVD full-screen version the full 89 minute version?? Figures they'd get the time right there and the aspect ratio wrong, and now vice versa!!

No one has confirmed or denied this....you might want to make another call...

What's with the song? Is it by a verboten artist? Questionable lyrics?

Apparently, they felt that kids were bored out of their minds in the theaters, so they dumped it. THey restored it for the video versions though.

What the hell? That song has never been cut out of any release. Why now? Whatever happened to that song that Bunson and Beeker sing when they come into Scrooge's place of business in the beginning of the movie and ask him for a donation? It's on the soundtrack!

Why cut out a song that's never been cut out? GOD DISNEY SUCKS!

Glad to hear they're all widescreen. It was a dealbreaker for me and it seems many others.

As far as I know, all the widescreen Muppet Christmas Carol releases to date (R2 Japan, R1/4 Latin America) have been the cut 85min version...

/owns the R1/4

this is what i have been reading at the HTF

Muppet Christmas Carol will be featuring both versions of the film: Full Screen "Extended Version" - with the song "When Love is Gone" and the original Widescreen "Theatrical Version" without the song the 85 minute time is referring to the widescreen version only the fullscreen version is approximately 3 minutes longer.

For a minute there I was almost hoping the P&S only was true so that I could just keep my current DVDs and save money.

Come on man, these 4 DVD's according to Amazon are being released to celebrate 50yrs of KERMIT, none of these were made 50yrs ago, they are just being re-issued to celebrate 50yrs of being green. Read man, I was just saying Tri-star needs to do the same with Muppets take Manhattan.

Every website I have searched (Suncoast, Amazon, Buy.com) lists all of these movies as FULL SCREEN with no mention of widescreen anywhere. Did they change their mind?

nope....but the original press release stated that, and thats probably what they are using. Disney has confirmed it will have FS/WS on same disc.

I've read through this thread a couple of times. Do we know what special features are on the first movie? Are they any different than the original disc?

I'm hoping the new DVD has been mastered from a newer cleaner print. 'ack!'

I've got these in hand, they are indeed widescreen. But there is some bad news.

The widescreen version of A Muppet Christmas Carol is 86 minutes, but on the back it says "Extended Full Screen Version with Deleted Scene!" and the full screen is listed as 89 minutes.

the first muppet dvd review i have seen is over at the HTF. It is for the muppet movie and can be found at http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...postid=2855408

Looks like they used the same print and there is only one extra, “Pepe Profile”. Looks like they HAVE lost the commentary tracks from the previous disney releases.

I am happy to have WS copies finally, but bummed at the loss of commentary. Its a real shame these weren't true special editions.

Looks like I'll just keep my originals of the first two movies.
