There is no comparison. The Japanese version is 100% better. Extra scenes, extra violence, clearer fight choreography, etc.

Which version is the director's true intent was argued to death months ago, and less face it, only Quentin knows for sure. The scene was mentioned as being in B&W in later drafts of the script, but there is a strong possibility that QT did that because he knew that the scene taking place completely in colour may have been a difficult sell with the MPAA. Scripting the scene partially in B&W could have been pre-emptive damage control on his part. I also believe that two different versions was just yet another homage in a film full of homages (ie. like the legendary, but not proven to exist, bloodier Japanese versions of Hammer films, multiple versions of Eurocult films, etc) But that's just my opinion.
