Alright guys, this is looking great. A box set version of the Batman Anthology with the terrific cover art. What's the catch? How do these Korean DVDs differ in packaging from American DVDs? And how reliable are these websites? Also, what is the difference in editing as far as the Korean and British versions go?

Thanks for the heads-up dfnyc

edit: checked out the single copies. looks like the title is written in korean underneath the actual titles. I take it the red and green circles are 12s and 15s. Anything else I should know?

Thank you. I've bought plenty of disks from UK sites, but only a few Korean DVD's, so I wasn't sure which sites to go to (I'll also have to check out CD-WOW).

They are Region 3 so make sure you're region free. All of those sites are very reliable. Korean is NTSC and British is PAL (so British will be sped up). Korean will not be cut.

Thanks digitalfreaknyc !
And umm...none taken. Since having an daughter, as in most people's cases, I have a much smaller budget to spend on DVD's, thus, I need to pick and choose my purchases. With so many DVD's that I want coming up in the next few months, I need to be alittle more choosier. I at least wanted to get Batman Returns (my favorite,) if the A/V are upgraded than yes, its a no brainer!

also a warning to those of you buying the region 2. Returns is cut 7 seconds for the scene where catwoman puts a spray can in a microwave.
there is also rumor of Forever being cut as well.

At least for the Batman & Robin case, they took off that "positive" Michael Medved quote that was actually from a negative review with a lot of convenient edits.

I'm really surprised we don't have reviews as of yet. This is around the time when people start breaking street date on titles and these should be out by now.

Yeah I'm surprised too -- especially considering it's a Warner title -- their reviews usually seem to be out sooner.

Review of the Batman SE here.

Not much on the picture and sound, but this sounds cool:
One of the best extras on this particular DVD is “THE COMPLETE ROBIN STORYBOARD SEQUENCE.” If you were not aware, Robin was going to be included in the film at one point. As filming progressed, the character was cut from the film. This segment shows the storyboard of the scene that would have included Robin. What’s great about it is that it is set to music, sound effects are added in, and Batman and The Joker are voiced by Kevin Conroy and Mark Hammil respectively.

I started a poll here: Batman Special Editions. Which region are you getting? because I was curious which way people were going on this.

Help me make up my mind!

So....people are buying different region/country DVDs based solely on the cover designs?

If the price is the same, why not? If you could choose between two nearly identical cars, but one looked a lot better, wouldn't you buy that one?

For myself, I try and buy the best possible DVD at the best possible price. I won't sacrifice content for looks, but if it is the same and looks better, I may go that route (if the price is right).

Edit: I don't care about when I get DVD's. I have 100's that I haven't watched, so that is not important to me.

If the price is the same....but with shipping and the different region codes, as well as the possibility of PAL speed-up and cut scenes, all that for a cover that could easily be made or found for download just doesn't make much sense.

Not to mention the various rating logos and language differences plastered all over the covers...isn't that worse?

Is it hurting me?

What does that mean?

The only time I was pissed off about a cover was when Jim Cameron's image was put on "Titanic"...but I'm cool with it because I not only made my own cover, but like the fact that all regions are stuck with the same image, not just R1.

I made covers based on the R2 Batman covers, but with the original title fonts. (Forever needs a little more work though, and never bothered with that last one... )

R1 for me. The covers may not be the most inspired creations--especially with that font--but the films are complete, and I will be perfectly pleased to have them.

My jaw dropped when I first saw the R2 covers, but as time has passed I've actually not cared so much for them. Had they been the original emblems, cool, but those modified versions really don't do much for me. So I'm just as happy with what R1 is getting.

Sounds great, but it also sounds lacking.

well I'm glad they included the deleted " is it halloween yet " deleted scene but I'm disappointed as there was a few more deleted scenes that appear to be missing on this SE.

I'm picking it up anyways.

I don't know about U.S. prices, but I've found that in Canada, buying the box is cheaper than buying the first three (yes, I like 'Forever'). I was going to get the first three as well as 'Begins', but it works out to be a lot more money that way.

Definitely an amateurish review(er). Obvious, since he says he was 10 when he went to see Batman & Robin (1997).

I thought he said the same thing about a couple of the other batman movies as well. I was like "damn, this kid was 10 a few times!"
