Frankenhooker coming in an SE...

Frank Hennenlotter's (sp?) Frankenhooker is coming in a special edition along with his help from Unearthed Films. Street date is expected in September/October. I am not a huge fan of his films but remember liking this one from when I was a kid. I avoided the old Simitar release because it was Full Screen and I never could find out if it was filmed that way or not.

Is it coming with a talking case like the old VHS?

"Wanna date?"

"I'm becoming dangerously amoral."

"Would you like a sandwich?"

I saw this at a sold out midnight show at the Coolidge Corner Theater in Boston when it came out. I'm looking forward to replacing my crappy VHS copy.

Mine still works after all these years. Must have a good battery in it!

Good news about the SE.

I don't know either, but I do know that Hennenlotter shot 'Basket Case' in fullscreen and said that he didn't realize it would be cropped for theaters, and was very surprised to see it that way when it was projected.

While this could mean he prefers fullscreen, it also seems like he would've framed 'Frankenhooker' with the knowledge of theatrical cropping.

Now I think I'll sell my 'Frankenhooker' disc...

See? This is par for the course. I just bought a goddamn import DVD from the UK. Figures they'd choose to release it here...

Same thing happened with FREAKED...

mine still works too. I won't be 'upgrading' unless the new case does this.

xploitedcinema has a signed/numbered release available: Frankenhooker. There are only 50 up for grabs.

Yeah ... it's pretty hard to find, but is out. I haven't seen it at any B&M's, and apparently most online retailers aren't carrying it either. My copy just arrived from Amazon today, so they definitely have it.

Anyway, I even had my order for it cancelled by two other online retailers prior to trying to order it from Amazon. So it seems like Amazon is just about the only place (or one of very few places) selling it that actually has it in stock.

I ordered it from HKFlix.com for $11.95 and received it last week.

Despite never having actually seen the film before, I naturally had to break down and buy the signed LE version. Yeah, I decided to spend three times more the amount for an autographed version of a blind buy! But, based on Frank Henenlotter's other films such as "Basket Case" and "Brain Dead" that I enjoyed immensely...it seemed like the right thing to do. Besides, I did the same thing with "I Drink Your Blood" and it turned out to be one of my all-time favorite horror flicks.

BTW, wouldn't it be funny if I received #1/50?

Hey, you better not!

j/k... it would be cool for you if you nabbed it. I'm willing to bet that Tony keeps the #1's for himself... at least *I* would Let us know which number you got.

It's a fun movie and I know you'll like it. It's a great release (even though I'm not thrilled with the new cover art) with nice extras.

Anybody want to compare it to the previous release (or post a link to a review that does)?

all I know is that the previous release was the cut R-rated version, this new version is the original unrated cut.

My favorite line is when he is talking about his descent into "sheer, utter madness" and his mother asks him if he wants a sandwich.

I will definitely be picking this up!

Well, I ended up with #25/50. And coincidentally, it just so happens that this would of been my third choice...always prefer having either the first, the last, or the middle...especially when it comes to such a limited offering.

BTW, gotta say I'm slightly disappointed that this didn't come with an insert. Guess after receiving all the great additional material/signatures inside the "I Drink Your Blood" LE I've become just a little spoiled. But, overall I'm happy and can't wait to actually see it!

I know what you mean. I pretty no longer expect an insert on mainstream movies but a lot of these smaller cult movies have received really nice treatments. But whatcha gonna do...
