Picked up Garden State at Target, defective

I picked up a copy of Garden State at Target and it is defective. IT keeps skipping (tried it on several DVD players and DVD-ROM), and it just isn't working. I still have the receipt, but do they except returns for defective merchandise since it is open? I want to grab a better working copy. Thanks!

Of course stores will allow you to exchange a defective DVD for another copy.

Don't let Mr. Salty mislead you. You're screwed. I would go to Best Buy and buy a new copy.

Yeah, I've never seen a store that wouldn't exhange an open item for the same thing with receipt.

I've gotten two defective DVDs in my 6 years of buying them (gladiator and The Last Samurai)

I thought they only replaced unopened defective DVDs.

Judging by the wording on the back of my receipt, it sounds like Target will only take back items if they are unopened. Which is really stupid, but I'll try and return it tomorrow and see.

You can only exchange it for the same movie if it is open.
