How to go about collecting IMAX?

Well I finally ordered the 3D ultimate set I have been waiting forever to order. A reliable seller on Ebay was selling it for $40. So good deal there. Now I'm wondering, how should I go about collecting IMAX? How do you guys collect Imax? What are your reccomendations? I have Whales, the Discoveries, nothing extraordinary. But I've got a 47" and a very nice sound system now so. I like Astronomy and Nature, but I'm just wondering which ones are considered the cream of the crop for home theater viewing.
Geez I wish IMAX had some large $300 box sets. That would make it easier.

IMAX hasn't yet released one of the true IMAX 3-D movies to DVD in any form of 3-D, but NASCAR 3D and SPACE STATION 3D are forthcoming in anaglyph red/blue conversions I think. Wal-Mart has an exclusive on the former for a few weeks starting in Feb. SEIGFREID AND ROY: THE MAGIC BOX is also out there in a poor red/blue conversion.
There are a handful of large format 3-D films not produced by IMAX (but often shown in the same theatres) like ENCOUNTER IN THE THIRD DIMENSION, ALIEN ADVENTURE, HAUNTED CASTLE, S.O.S. PLANET, and ULTIMATE Gs on DVD in field sequential 3-D transfers, which are better than anaglyph, but do not appoximate the theatrical experience. Other titles like TRANSITIONS and BUGS 3D are also entering the marketplace.
Beware of Asian seller s selling bootleg sets of IMAX movies advertised as 3-D, these are simply flat 2-D IMAX movies packaged with a pair of "Pulfrich Illusion" filters that may allow you to see a bit of accidental depth here and there but certainly do not make these flat movies stereoscopic 3-D.

Yeah I saw (and was interested in) SOS Planet. Is the "legit" version compatible with the Shutter Glasses I will be getting with my Ultimate 3-d (haunted castle, encounter, alien)?
I'm prolly gonna get SOS planet and Solar Max. And thanks for the reccomendation about Alaska Al.

The S.O.S. PLANET DVD is legit and contains both a flat version and a real, stereoscopic 3-D version which works fine with any field sequential LCD glasses like the ones you purchased.
