Your welcome everyone. I was totally surprised by the news myself. After hearing the footage was 'lost' forever over the years. I basically gave up hope of an uncut release ever happening.
Now if only Paramount would take a note and learn a thing from M.G.M! I mean, they have access to the uncut My Bloody Valentine footage and foolishly say "Sorry,we'll just remaster our cut to hell theatrical print, too cheap to do a reedit,or offer seamless, besides who wants that?"
I like Re-animator alot more than this film(which I have'nt seen since TNT's Monstervision),but it's always felt alittle 'dry' too me. At least now I know why that was(especially near the end) and am greatly looking forward to the uncensored version. It's not a 'bad' film and was good I think, but I still thought Re-animator was the more entertaining film.
I also can't wait until I receive that kickass poster, which even has an image of the Crampton S&M riding Combs sequence
One thing is for sure,I will never forget the feeling I got when I saw Crampton in that outfit as a kid
Also while it may not happen,I would love for an rated vs unrated comparision like on their Dressed To Kill dvd. Though split screen may be alittle annoying in this case(since the films not in 2:35 like Kill was). So seperate cut vs uncut comparisions would be a better option.
Heck they might as well make it a dual rated release and offer both versions for the heck of it. Alittle featurette on the films censorship and discovery of the footage would be great as well.

this is like totally awesome news..
unfriggin' believable
can't wait!!!!!
Is that really the planned video cover of the DVD? I was hoping they could have unearthed the prelimanary one-sheet that is very Geiger-esque with a screaming man with his clenched fists near his ears while in the eye sockets and mouth there are skulls.

One can only hope Lions Gate will get around to releasing a DC of "The Resurrected" this year too. That and "From Beyond" would make a nice double feature I think.
