How much did you spend on DVDs in 2004?

Spent about $1,200 in 2003, but $2,700 in 2004!! Ouch!

I wonder what 2005 will be like? Here's hoping it will be less.

You guys?

PopcornTreeCt 01-04-05 01:17 AM

No idea. Probably too much though.

Cameron 01-04-05 01:32 AM

too much

Libby 01-04-05 01:56 AM

cant get an exact dollar figure but bought about 52-55 dvds this year

gcribbs 01-04-05 02:14 AM

I spent $2279 at deepdiscount alone this year.

So $5000 or so.

danwiz 01-04-05 02:14 AM

Well, if you just include DVDs which I ordered and took delivery of in 2004, I ordered and received 36 Movies/TV Season Sets, for a total of $872.48.

If you include the remainder ORDERED in 2004, but not yet released, and therefore not yet shipped/received, then the total is 45 Movies/TV Season Sets, for a total of $1,082.97.

That's not too bad. I live in Japan, and order all of my Region 1 DVDs from Amazon.com - there is NEVER free shipping to Japan, so all of the above costs INCLUDE shipping charges - shipping is just part of the total price.

Don't know... and don't want to know

Davie50 01-04-05 03:43 AM

I keep a updated list of my dvd purchases and what I paid for them for the year. I reached the grand total with Garden State being my last purchase.

Damage for 2004 = $3,295

Ouch. I know for a fact 2005 will not even be a 3rd of that. That total is a combination of fulfilling my top 100 movies wish list, tons of tv on dvd, and having lots of excess financial aid money. Oh well, at least if anyone trys to give me a hard time about my addiction I can say at least it doesn't hurt anybody or myself. I don't drink, so $0 on alcohol, just thousands on dvds, good for everybody.

QuiGonJosh 01-04-05 03:50 AM

Not really sure, I sold a big bulk of my collection (Around 800 DVD's), but I also bought quite a few, I'd say in all I spent a little over $1,000 probably...not sure though...

More than I can count

raytrade 01-04-05 04:40 AM

Hmmm, can't find a report to give me that info filtered by date range in DVDProfiler, but the total cost paid for my DVD collection is $13,941.16 according to DVDProfiler's stats function. That made me feel sick, then I ran the report of the total SRP value of my collection, which is $46,222.75, so I at least feel better knowing I average saving 70% off SRP by my very careful bargain shopping... thanks in no small part to DVDTalk. :)

MasterofDVD 01-04-05 04:44 AM

I too was curious if DVD Profiler would be able to give a yearly total. My combined total is about 19,000.00 or so right now. I'm sure this had to be a bigger than average year for me.

I know I bought a ton of TV show season sets and box sets this year because I ended up having to buy a new shelf for each of those 2 categories.

TomOpus 01-04-05 07:02 AM

I bought 216 DVDs last year. I guess maybe an average of $15 each.... so $3,000 give or take a few hundred.

FantasticVSDoom 01-04-05 07:11 AM

I really dont want to know...It probably over a $1000, and for some reason that thought scares me, lol. I know this year I wont buy as much because Im really going to curb my buying and keep on a strict buying schedule since we are saving to buy a house (in NYC no less), and funny feeling this year maybe the year for a little one.

Quake1028 01-04-05 07:22 AM

Total 2004: $2,269.71 for 243 dvd's = $9.34 average
Total to Date: $6,073.94 ($17,133.85 MSRP) for 595 dvd's = $10.21 average

DVDiano 01-04-05 07:36 AM

The less I think about it, the better. Ignorance is bliss. :p

sade 01-04-05 07:38 AM

Around $700.

Ditto, I would say over $1000. I have bought used and traded a ton though so I really don't know. Probably $1500-$2000.

ianholm 01-04-05 08:10 AM

Probably around $2000

Get Me Coffee 01-04-05 08:31 AM

Just checked my Excel file...

2004....

$1,435....for 115 DVD's

marty888 01-04-05 08:32 AM

I would guess about $3000 total (about 350 titles), which includes about 50 from CH, another 100 from the 2 DeepDiscount sales, 50 from Hong Kong, and about another 50 from Region 2/3/4.

pilot 01-04-05 09:00 AM

definately too much...

MrVette99 01-04-05 09:24 AM

Probably a couple hundred. Not much.

I can however say with great precision how much I'll spend on DVDs this year. ZERO! I'm done buying DVDs. Now considering NetFlix. :)

phr33k 01-04-05 09:33 AM

over 4,000$
