Hulk Hogan 6-Disk DVD Set In The Works

In the big book for upcoming video/DVD releases from Trans World Entertainment, which is the parent corporation for video and music retailers such as FYE and Coconuts Music & Movies, there is another Hulk Hogan DVD set in the works. It's titled HULKAMANIA and it's a 6-Disc Set that will cost $44.95 and be released this spring.

This DVD set is more than likely going to be a re-release of the six Hulkamania Coliseum Home Videos that were released in the '80s and 90s. It should be interesting to see if any editing will occur what with the many "WWF" references and "Hulk Hogan" references that are bound to occur in those old videos. Due to the Marvel lawsuit, Hulk Hogan has been been referred to as "Hollywood Hogan" when his name is mentioned on either television or in print. Perhaps it has been resolved and Hogan can be known as Hulk Hogan in WWE again. We shall see.

If this 6-disk DVD set are indeed re-releases of the Coliseum Video Hulkamania tapes, than these are the matches and segments you can expect to see.

Lame. A rerelease of cheap ass videos and match highlights (like the Shawn Michaels: A Boyhood Dream).

Also, if the lawsuit with Marvel is still an issue, it's not only "Hulk" Hogan but also "Hulkster" and Hulkamania".

No, you're completely wrong. People should get excited about this release if it is indeed the Coluseum Hulkamania tapes. They were quality tapes with full matches that you won't find anywhere else but a comp. tape trader. These are nothing like the HBK DVD that was released.

Oh, they're COMPLETE matches?? I didn't know that. During that era non-PPV VHS releases were generally lame highlights (like the HBK one is just highlights).

If all these matches are complete then that's an awesome DVD set!!

And while the block logo is OK the word "WWF" is going to be taken out. Let's hope there's no issue with the word "Hulk"

imagines "BEEP hogan", "BEEPamania", and "BEEPster".

Well, I wouldn't say that every match is complete but a lot of them are. I know that Hulkamania 4 has like 4-5 complete matches and like 1 clipset from Summerslam 89 and clips from Wrestlemania III. All of the older Coluseum Video "Best-Of" tapes were done the same way, so I would expect all of the rest of the Hulk releases to be the same. I've got Hulkamania 6 that I haven't watched yet, I'll throw it in tonight and let you know on that tomorrow.

This isn't lame because they may be rehashes of older videos. It's lame because it's Chump Hogan!

Give us a 6 disk Ric Flair/Four Horsemen set! Or a Steve Austin set! Or even the Rock! But not the Chumpster!

I think this is great from a nostalgia and wrestling history standpoint. It's interesting just to see how Hogan's angles were booked, to see many of his opponents in their primes, and the different angles and storylines of the time. It was a much different time in wrestling. Plus, I remember renting most of these from the video store when I was younger and loving every minute. So many other things from my childhood are gone, let me at least have this.

On the other hand, I would like to see The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection: Volume 2, with more of his WCW years and such.

And if we're going to talk about what OTHER stuff WWE should be working where's all the Wrestlemania DVDs? Where's all the unreleased ECW PPVs? Where's the AWA? Where's the older NWA/WCW PPVs? WWE is really dropping the ball in terms of releasing their back catalog.

I have most if not all of these on VHS, but I'd certainly rebuy these on DVD. I know everyone says Hogan sucks...but it brings me back to my childhood.

I remember the match with Dr. D David Shultz on the first video...Shultz blades...Hogan has Shultz over his shoulder and spears him into the ring post...and Shultz slides the blade into Hogan's tights. This was in Mineapolis...where the WWF continued their fued from the AWA.

Do you happen to know which Hogan/Undertaker match is on Hulkamania 6?

There's some older stuff released in R2 land, including the first 4 Wrestlemanias: http://www.silvervision.co.uk/catego...jump=8&sfile=1

Also, there's loads of ECW PPVs out in R2 land.

I got through about half of Hulkamania 6 last night. The Undertaker-Hogan match is complete and from a Prime Time Wrestling taping. It's neither the SS91 nor the Tuesday in Texas match, which was quite surprising to me. Hogan vs. Savage is from a Paris tour in 89 and is complete, as well as the Stan Hansen match. It runs about 2 hours (atleast that's what Sean Mooney said at the beginning).

Sorry I didn't answer your question earlier...but I would have given you the wrong answer. I thought it was the Tuesday in Texas match. I guess I don't have this one on tape because I don't remember a dark match with Hogan and Taker on the commercial tapes.

FYI, the Andre The Giant Coliseum Home Video that they're releasing on DVD is at DeepDiscountDVD.com for $5.99. Hopefully they'll have a good price for this set.
