So many questions for WhoGirl, I don't know where to start....

Why stacked on the floor?

How do you find anything?

Why surrounding the subwoofer?

If you have it cranked up, does subwoofer action knock them all down?

Why isn't the receiver in the cabinet?

I've also seen a similar shelf at Target, I think it was between 30-40 bucks.

So WhoGirl, I'm guessing it wouldn't be that great of an idea to use that fireplace eh? Badass tv/component setup.

Thanks.

Probably should have included this in my first post, but oh well. Here's exactly what my theater is composed of:
Mitsubishi WS-55413 HDTV
Pioneer Elite VSX-55TXi A/V Receiver
Pioneer Elite DV-59AVi DVD/SCAD/DVD-A Player
JBL E250P Subwoofer
Four JBL E50 surround speakers. Two side, Two rear.
JBL E100 Front speakers
JBL EC35 center channel speaker

-It's an organized mess, really. A lot of the TV shows' seasons are together. Sequels of movies are next to each other. Some other movies that have no other place to go are broken up by genre. I can't always navigate through it well, but it doesn't take that long to find what I'm looking for.

-I don't quite know why they're around the subwoofer. It just seemed like the natural place to put them once room on the fireplace ran out. We never used the fireplace even when we didn't have the DVDs there. Obviously, the centerpiece of our living room is the home theater system, and having the DVDs there accentuates that. Honestly, when you're physically in the house it doesn't appear to be cluttered or anything. It works well. That might change once I have say, 2600 DVDs. But for now, it works.

- No, the subwoofer doesn't knock them down or shake them as far as I know. Perhaps I'm not playing it loud enough...

-The Pioneer Elite receiver we have actually doesn't fit in the cabinet. It's too deep, The knobs stick out from the front and you can't close the glass door. Plus, it's just a little bit easier to hit it with the remote having it up there, and since the DVD player and LD player are also Pioneer they work through the receiver.

Pagansoul, those are the nicest shelves I have seen in a long time. Where did you get them or are they custom?

They are the media shelves from HOLD EVERYTHING. A part of the Williams-Sonoma collection of stores. They sit on top of each other and the best deals are when you buy 2 at a time. They also fold when not in use. Great for moving around. My store in Atlanta closed so they had a great sale on them (2 for 90, holds about 250 DVD when doubled up, more if you sit them next to each other). I own 5 sets in the dark brown. I've had them for 6 years and don't know if they still make them but I'm sure you can find something like them at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I finally finished one Shelf, made it a little ago and organised the dvds a bit, took a while but hey its worth it from floor to ceiling not even 1cm to spare.

I couldnt get far enuff back to take a photo of the whole shelf so I had to take 2 and edit them together a bit.

Now all I have to do is get the other shelves made for my good dvds and Limited Editions I am gonna be on forever, bugger!

but heres a snap of my other shlef in progress, should end up with 3 massive shelving units, just hope I dont spill out onto 4! no room!

DVD Shelf 1

DVD Shelf 2

DVD Shelf 3

We are literally running out of space in my house, so my collection is scattered about. I need more shelves. My DVDs are in front of and behind other DVDs, so a lot of my collection is also out of view.

Yeah, I know. I'm a pretty nerdy girl.

Hey, I think that ought to be assumed since I run the Anime Bargains thread. I wouldn't be very loyal if I didn't own a buttload of anime!

Yes, I am a girl. What of it. Just kidding.

Apparently, you think that sizeable earthquakes are much more prevalent than they really are. I've lived in California (earthquake country) all my life. In 43 years I've been involved in only 2 or 3 quakes strong enough to even have a chance of rearranging my DVD collection. Fortunately, those were all long before the advent of DVD.

Romerojpg: Why do you own two Alien Quadrilogies?
Well I got the nice R1 version and its great,
then I got the Japanese Alien Head edition and as the J dvd set looses things on the R1 such as alternate cuts of 2 of the films and extras have awfull burned in subs! I need to keep the R1 set, and the fact the Japanese set comes with the Alien Head and it wouldnt be a complete set if I parted it from the Head

I want to sell the Japanese set, but then the price of the Head would probibly lower a lot as then it isnt a complete set If I need cash quick I know what to sell, I only just sold the old Alien Legacy set too.

What is it with the Alien series, for some reason it inspires complete servitude. I have the Legacy set, the Quadrilogy set, and the Alien Saga disc.
