Is a Resident Evil Apocalypse superbit edition release inevitable?

I'm interested in picking up the current version because of the low sale price, but I'm almost 99% sure a superbit is on the way in a few months. I understand the current one has all the special features on the second disc. With the exclusion of a DTS soundtrack, would the current disc be comparable in terms of A/V quality to the superbit?

Its pretty much 100% certain there will be a Superbit, there always is, it may be months away, but it will come for a film like this.

Wouldn't be too interested for superbit for this title. Wasn't that good of a film.

I don't know how much a DTS track could improve upon the DD track. It's damn good. The only thing that seems to be a little lacking is the video transfer. Oh, don't get me wrong, it's clean and all that, but being that it takes place mostly outside and at night, a higher bit-rate might help out with some of the shadow detail.

As Mike Lowrey said, it may be a little dark and more shadow detail may come with a superbit, but it's a movie that takes place at night, the present transfer is clean and sharp and the DD track is great. It's worth the low sale price if you like the movie.

Not sure where you are coming from. The Superbit ratio to the number of DVDs out there is pretty low. "There always is" is not true.

IMO, For this film I'd doubt they'd do a Superbit, the current disc was done pretty well, and the movie itself was so-so.

This is Columbia we're talking about, after all. A Superbit edition is as inevitable as death or taxes. Maybe even moreso.

I'm with chesola and others who think a superbit will be upon us not too long from now. They did this with Underworld and Bad Boys 2, two dvds that didn't really require a third and second release, respectively. Thanks for the those who chimed in to post their input of the current release. I picked it up earlier tonight for $14.99

The current version has three commentaries along with FS and WS versions on a single sided disc. Not a whole lotta room for A/V!

Yeah, I'd expect a SuperBit.

The current release sucked. They crammed a WS and a FS version on the same DVD9. Then they made the extras disc a DVD5!. For a few extra bucks they could have made them both DVD0's, put the fullscreen with the xtras and expanded the widescreen to over 8G, istead of just under 4!!

What a f***in' ripoff!!

I think there will be, since the first film got one. The movies with Superbits usually get Superbits of the sequels too (Spider-Man, Men in Black, Heavy Metal, Bad Boys).

Thats why I dont buy crap R1 dvds, go to another country for the film in widescreen with DTS and no fullscreen at all, that way the picture will be a lot better than this one I am sure. I am getting the extra gore German cut anyway sure it will be nice.

I would put loadson the line as its 100% certain a Superbit will come out, if peeople dont think so well you dont live in the dvd world at all, Columbia = cash in and this film WILL get a Superbit over pretty much all other titles I can think of.
