Where do you guys buy most of your dvds from?

I mostly get all mine online from amazon or DDD. Do you guys purchase dvds more online or do you get most of yours at retail stores?

Jackskeleton 12-25-04 06:10 PM

best buy, studio store, amoeba records, costco.

I hardly deal with online sites unless it's a really dire or hard to find item.

jpdude 12-25-04 06:12 PM

Wal-Mart....but i make them price match Best Buy, Circuit City, and Target ads almost all the time.

gutwrencher 12-25-04 06:13 PM

90% is via on-line. I'll slip into BB on Tuesdays maybe every other week....and maybe Borders a few times a month. I always have recieved great service from Amazon....regardless of the prices. I don't really care about who has it for the cheapest....I'm not a deal hunter. if the service is top notch....I'll pay top dollar....no problem. for all of my import needs...it's nobody but Xploited.com. Tony is the very best in the biz and I trust him fully. I try to order from him a few times a month....although I've slowed of late due to the high volume of work I've been dealing with.

I buy stuff from both B&M stores and online.

Generally, I buy only sale-items at the B&M stores like Best Buy, Target & Circuit City. When I say sale-items, I mean DVDs with new-release special prices, or movies in their 2/$15 or 2/$20 sales.

For stuff that doesn't go on sale and/or isn't carried by the B&Ms, I go online: Deep Discount DVD or DVD Pacific

nemein 12-25-04 06:26 PM

Online or Best Buy

Third Baseman 12-25-04 06:50 PM

Online or Wal-Mart. No best buy around here for hours.

68ShelbyGT500KR 12-25-04 06:55 PM

DDD Primarily..Maybe an B & M under the 2/20 type of deals. Must be anamorphic (sp?), though. I am not ususally in a rush to buy the latest and greatest anymore.

Highfire 12-25-04 07:01 PM

Best Buy.I will make them price match if needed.

Probably split in this way:
65% DeepDiscount
25% Amazon
10% Wal Mart

When looking for something I first go to Amazon to see if it's indeed a title, because Deep Discount doesn't always have it listed for whatever reason. Then once confirmed, I go to DeepDiscount to check for their listing and price. If better than Amazon, I place the item in my Wishlist or in the Cart. However, sometimes Amazon will have slightly better prices. So that's where the 25% comes from. Strangely enough, Amazon has had lower prices on select items lately, so I've had more orders from Amazon than usual lately.

The Wal Mart purchases are split between new release sale prices and bargain bin/rack purchases. But lately, that's fairly rare. As my all-time wish list has shrunken quite a bit lately. Not a lot of bargain bin titles I want right now. I usually look for Steven Seagal movies at Wal Mart for $9.98. Hey, would you pay more than $10 for a Seagal title?

matome 12-25-04 08:02 PM

DVDEmpire

Bill Needle 12-25-04 08:03 PM

Columbia House join/fulfill/quit, DDD for those not at CH, plus a used store to use credits for any I sell to them. That's about it, other than the occasional cherry-pick deal (such as the LotR: RotK EE for $16.99 @ coconuts.com).

Zodiac_Speaking 12-25-04 08:07 PM

Best buy

supersonicx 12-25-04 08:12 PM

eBay.

tofu 12-25-04 08:15 PM

DDD, Target, Circuit City and Amazon.

kayak99 12-25-04 08:15 PM

Best Buy with the Madden coupon otherwise its whoever is the least expensive. Often its FYE, or Gamestop while they accept trade-ins.

I get a lot from DDD especially when they have a sale. (I build a list and wait for a sale to get really wanted sets)

clckworang 12-25-04 08:20 PM

Almost always from DDD. For imports, I usually shop around for a while.

Maxflier 12-25-04 08:31 PM

I buy about 90% of my DVD's from Best Buy.

kms_md 12-25-04 08:34 PM

best buy, target on tuesdays
DDD for harder to find stuff
cd-wow, dddhouse for international

Future Shop, crap service but a decent selection of movies.

A&B sound isn't too bad either

MasterCXtreme 12-25-04 08:42 PM

Best Buy actually gets most of my buisness when the buisness gets done. Costco & Circuit City are running the second string.

Josh H 12-25-04 08:48 PM

Best Buy. Occasionally Target, Wal-mart or Circuit City if I'm in there and see something I want at a good price. Best Buy has the best store that's convenient on my way to work.

I rarely shop online anymore. Best Buy is usually as cheap or cheaper, and I can get instant gratification and not have to worry about shipping damages etc.

Sepulture 12-25-04 08:59 PM

I usually buy from Amazon, because I don't live in the US and Amazon is the most reliable when it comes to shipping. :)

TomOpus 12-25-04 08:59 PM

B&M's: Best Buy, Target, Wal*Mart, Borders and Fry's.
We have a SecondSpin here and I'll go there on occasion. There's a local "mom & pop" B&M that will have more obscure titles plus I'll get used DVDs there. Also when I'm up in L.A. I'll hit Amoeba Records and DVDPlanet.

Online: DDD, Xploitedcinema and I've recently used Amazon once.

bpatt 12-25-04 09:19 PM

I start with DVDPriceSearch.com, and then I hit Half.com to see what I can get it for gently used. If unavailable or too costly, and I have to have it, I hit DDD (generally the best price most of the time anyways). If I can wait, it goes into DVD Profiler's wish list, where I watch for sales from B&M's and Overstock.

A PS note on the Half.com: Recently I decided to experiment and listed several titles that I want as Pre-orders, where you specify the condition you would require and the cost. I listed probably 30 titles I pre-ordered, all of which would require the seller to let it go at extremely low prices and yet high quality. To my surprise, I've had three orders filled thus far, and have been very happy with them.
