Since Johnny Carson just died, and The Late Shift does have something to do with Johnny, I would think that they would be releasing this on dvd to cash in on all of the "Johnny" publicity right now, besides the fact that I think it is an entertaining movie, with some great actors in it, namely Kathy Bates.

Great MAde for HBO film. The actors that played Letterman and Leno were both great as well. I would pick this up in a second, and is one of the few VHS holdouts I still have.

I, for one, dislike the film...I thought Jay and Dave were presented as mere caricatures of the real men - basically two actors doing impersonations of them, rather than two actors trying to PORTRAY them. I realize the film is supposed to be comedic in tone, but this really turned me off from enjoying the movie.

The cover is the same as the old VHS cover, which is serviceable, but it would've been nice to see something more exciting. But either way, it's the movie that counts and it's great to finally see this coming to DVD...

Nice call, just noticed that myself.
