Office Space SE Question

Office Space SE is coming out next year...
does anyone know if it will have the "Office Space" cartoon short from 1991 as an extra?

wastro 12-19-04 12:49 PM

Can't speak for sure, but I don't recall ANY special features being announced so far.

Matthew Chmiel 12-19-04 12:49 PM

You mean the "Milton" cartoons?

Nobody knows what will be included as extras as the moment; since the DVD doesn't even come out until the end of 2005.

Cameron 12-19-04 12:51 PM

hopefully it will have all the milton cartoons

woemcats 12-19-04 05:01 PM

End of 2005? Where did you hear end?

Last word I had was March 2005. I don't recall where I heard it, but I recorded it because it was reasonably reliable, though not definite.

TheDigitalBits reported that the bonus features are "very cool" but gave no details.

I really doubt that it will. Didn't those air on SNL? If so, that's Broadway Video, and Fox doesn't have the rights. I suppose they could get them, but considering how they've treated Judge so far, I'd say pretty unlikely.

Trigger 12-19-04 07:31 PM

They were a Mike Judge creation and were presented in the Spike and Mike film festivals... I don't think they are property of SNL or Broadway Video. I could be wrong though. I think these cartoon shorts are pretty much the main reason to make an office space SE.

The Milton Shorts the main reason? I would say an anamorphic transfer and a commentary would be much higher on my list of reasons to buy it than the Milton shorts. I know nothings been announced, but it is pretty reasonable to assume that it will be anamorphic and a commentary (or 2?)

I thought it was planned for a first quarter release. Anyone seen any concrete info?

Re-read the post you're quoting. He said the Milton shorts are probably the main reason for FOX to MAKE the disc, not the main reason to buy it. And he's probably right. I think the shorts would be more appealing to the AVERAGE DVD consumer, rather than an anamorphic transfer and commentary, which most DVD buyers probably don't take into consideration when buying discs.

Per the Digital Bits Rumor Mill:

Oh... you guys are gonna LOVE this!

Sources at 20th Century Fox have just confirmed with me that the long-awaited Office Space: Special Edition is finally a go! The studio and director Mike Judge are currently hard at work on the disc, which is tentatively planned for release in early 2005. There's no other details available at the moment (so don't ask - it's too early in the process), but the title IS finally coming and you can bet we'll keep you up to date on this as things progress.

How's that for a way to stave off a bad case of the Mondays?

Cameron 12-20-04 03:53 PM

Their was a article about office space and mike judge in Entertainment weekly last year i believe. He talked about how Office space was a top ten all time seller for fox and they were knocking down his door for a Special Edition and a sequel. Judge didn't want to do a sequel becuase he felt like a failure the first time through and didn't want to do that again. From what i remember he said he owned the cartoons...Fox wanted a commentary, deleted scenes, and the milton toons but didn't want to pay up....i guess they found a common ground.

if someone has the article please post it, or a link for everyone to see. Again this was at least a year ago, and i'm going off memory.

I so Want this NOW!!!!

Anyone have a definitive date or more info????

I want this one now!!!

calhoun07 02-11-05 07:45 PM

No Milton Cartoons=No sale. Unless they make up for it in someway, but that is the main thing I am looking for on the SE, and I can't think of what they would have to put on there to make me buy it.

ZakVTA 02-12-05 01:51 AM

If all they added was a director/cast commentary I'd still buy it again.

How about some nifty deleted scenes with Samir and Michael Bolton in 'em?

Or some with Smykowski, or the two Bobs?

Even deleted scenes of Miltown Wadams and Lumberg would be sweet.

Office Space ... the pleasure is all on this side of the monitor, believe me.

Scott27 02-12-05 11:47 AM

Since I haven't bought the current disc in anticipation of the SE, I'll buy it no matter what's on it (assuming it's widescreen, of course).

ThatGuamGuy 02-12-05 07:41 PM

in all the lead up to an announcement about the SE, I believe both deleted scenes and commentaries have been mentioned by various people (such as Gary Cole in a radio interview). I'm sure looking back through the various threads of tidbits, you could find out a lot of the details (though no word on the Milton shorts either way, I don't think).

Exactly my position, too.

Willh51 02-12-05 11:31 PM

I'd just love an anamorphic transfer for this and Boondock Saints Fox!

coop22 02-12-05 11:31 PM

there is an advertisement for the special edition included in the donnie darko director's cut dvd: the ad picture shows milton on the cover with the post-it man and reads "Special Edition with Flair!"...it says "coming 2005" and "We're gonna need you to go ahead and buy this"....i was cracking up when I saw it...no listing of specs or special features though...
