Not quite then, because Dec. 21st has a couple for me--Shaun of the Dead and the Simpsons 5, but it slows way down after that though.
12/28: RE: Apocalypse 1/4: Nothing 1/11: Nothing 1/18: Kagemusha! 1/25: Warner Gangsters!!, Soap 2/1: Laughing Policeman (maybe) 2/8: Probably nothing, Scorsese's tempting but I already have Raging Bull, and I'm not sure I want to rebuy it so soon. 2/15: Angel Season 5 2/22: Huckabees 3/1: Bambi and after that, there's not a single thing on the DVD talk list through May I consider a must have (but, I doubt that'll last). |
I'm probably done already. Nothing coming out between now and the end of the year that I particularly want, although I'll probably buy some used DVD's or such between now and then.

What do these comments have to do with the question asked by the OP? Are you also the types of individuals that have to verbalize every thought that goes through your heads? Stew |
hell no. there are a good 25 I still want to snag prior to Christmas, including a few catalog titles, of course. have not done an import order in a while. doin' one of those, too. I expect to pick up around 8 of those...after the 14th and before Santa arrives. also a few as gifts.
after the 1st? still 200 to 300 to add before my library is complete. or as close to complete with my faves as possible.:D |
Not for me:
12/21 - Napoleon Dynamite, Shaun of the Dead, Simpsons S5 12/28 - Anchorman, Garden State But I think the weeks after that are pretty light. |
I didn't know the Simpsons season 5, and Married with Children season 3 were coming out so soon. Thanks for making me spend more money ;) |
December 21:
King Arthur Shaun of the Dead The Simpsons 5th Season December 28: Open Water January 4: Troy January 11: The Village January 18: Catwoman (I think) January 25: Warner Gangster's Collection Predator 2: SE Monster: SE (I think) February 1: Karate Kid Chariots of Fire: SE I could go on, but it never ends... |

It is a magnificent movie! Highly recommended.

Pretty Light DVD shopping for the next months
Anchorman Extended Edition (Dec 28) Superman: TAS Vol 1 (Jan 25) |
I wouldn't say last day, but it does get lighter.
|
I'm trying to cut back on DVDs. The only thing coming the rest of 2004 is Star Trek: Voyager Season 7, and Sex and the City, S6 part 2 (both to complete my collections). I also will probably get Anchorman.
For the new year, my must haves: 1/11 What a Way to Go! 1/18 Curb Your Enthusiasm, Season 3 1/25 Coupling, Season 4 Soap, Season 3 2/1 Secrets & Lies Wonderfalls 2/8 Deadwood 2/15 Angel, Season 5 Heat: Special Edition 2/22 The Shield, Season 3 I Heart Huckabees |
Yup, ROTK EE pretty much (most likely) wrapped it as far as stepping foot into a Best Buy (or any B&M for that matter). I may not be back in store until March 1st for South Park S5, depending on their pricing. The next release that I'm looking forward to is Raging Bull SE on Feb 8 and I'm hoping that Columbia House comes through with a pre-order for that one. Heat SE on Feb 22, but I already have that pre-ordered through CH. There's the Donnie Darko DC on Feb 15, but I'm in no rush to get it. So yeah... I'm done with DVDs for a bit.

I don't think I've ever bought a DVD from Best Buy, but I'm not done:
Simpsons Season 5 - 12/21 Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy Gift Set - 12/28 Curb Your Enthusiasm: Season 3 - 1/18 Coupling: Series 4, Men Behaving Badly Series 1 & 2 - 1/25 Raging Bull, Shark Tale - 2/8 Bambi - 3/1 Incredibles, Red Dwarf V & VI - 3/15 So I am still pretty close to my current average of 1 new title a week, though I usually have a week now and then with 3 or 4 to raise the average, and I don't usually get so many gaps of a week or two with nothing on the wish list. (This doesn't include my CH memberships enrollment titles which are more backfill/older releases with several of the new titles listed above as fulfillments.) It is odd to see Raging Bull and Bambi next to each other on a list of something... |
I am not done buying DVDs, but I have most of the older films I want. The new DVDs I plan on buying or have already pre-ordered:
Dec-21-2004 The Simpsons Season 5 Dec-28-2004 Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy - Gift Set Resident Evil: Apocalypse SE Jan-04-2005 Troy Jan-11-2005 Fifth Element UE Léon: The Professional DE Jan-25-2005 AVP: Alien Vs. Predator Batman: The Animated Series - Volume 2 Predator 2 SE Feb-08-2005 Raging Bull SE Feb-22-2005 Heat SE Mar-01-2005 Finding Neverland Mar-08-2005 Friends Season 9 Apr-05-2005 National Treasure Not announced: After the Sunset Batman SE or new box set Blade: Trinity The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou Ocean's Twelve Office Space SE |
It'll be MUCH lighter:
Napoleon Dynamite Simpsons Anchorman Ghost In The Shell stuff (episode 3, sequel, etc.) Garden State |
I usually bought stuff online too but when best buy and circuit city began charging shipping fee that changed everything.
Twilight Zone Season 1 on Dec 28 is enticing but $83 and post christmas shoppers don't appeal to me. |
No.. as many have said, we still got a few more good titles coming down the pike.
I just don't put the ones I know I'll get on my Chrsitmas list. I let them get the ones I had to skip on, or the catalog titles. |
No not at all these are all the new releases Im planning to buy:
December I, Robot Shaun Of The Dead The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement Garden State Wimbledon January Friday Night Lights February Shark Tale Shall We Dance (2004) March Ladder 49 Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason National Treasure The Incredibles Finding Neverland and probably more as I keep renting ones I havent seen yet! |
For the year, yes. For life? of course not.

Up until the end of January, here's the dvds I'd like to buy. (Note: I may not buy them the day they come out, but these are the ones I'd like to buy...eventually. Hopefully soon. But, as I begin student teaching, I'll have a LOT less money to spend on dvds, since I'll have to quit my main job.) :(
12/21 The 4400: Complete First Season King Arthur (will probably rent this first, to find out if I like. i didn't catch this in the theater) Shaun of the Dead Simpsons Season 5 (eventually, since I don't find the need to buy this at the mo') Napoleon Dynamite 12/28 Anchorman Unrated Gift Set Garden State Twilight Zone - The First Season (80s) Twilight Zone: The Definitive Edition - Season 1 (if i can afford this) 1/04 Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle Troy 1/11 Monk Season 2 (eventually) The Village (Note: Curious about the After School Special dvds coming out this date, as I remember the ones in the late 80s, however these pre-date me, but they seem like they might be corny enough to enjoy) 1/18 Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 3 |
