To Kill a Mockingbird is now OOP!!! get it while you can

Just wanted to let you know. The video store i work in just sent back all remaining copies...it can no longer be special ordered. Still easy to find on the net, and hopefully it means Universal will deliver a Special Edition in the near future.

another title just OOP is the world according to Garp starring Robin Williams... Snatch em up

Great feature-length "making of" documentary on the Mockingbird DVD.

Well, it's nonanamorphic with a fairly unspectacular transfer, so not a big loss in my opinion.

We listed this as being out-of-print as early as May this year. It's certain a candidate for a new release (original release 04/28/1998).

Love this movie and have owned it for some time. Glad it will be worth something....although it has priceless sentimental value for me as well.

Yup... And it's OOP status surely means that a nice new edition is in the works with a 16X9 transfer. So, I'll gladly keep on waiting until they get it right. No need to pick up the current, now OOP, disc IMHO.

Universal hired Cinesite to perform a full digital restoration on the film, I think at 4K resolution Cineon.

Might consider the new release if it has the Great making of doc., if not, I can live with the old version and might get the new one for the transfer if it gets glowing reviews and is nicely priced.

Where exactly did you find this information?

All I could find on Cinestie's web page was:

2001
Cinesite begins development on automated dirt and scratch removal software.
Cinesite completes full feature digital restorations on The Man Who Knew Too Much and To Hell and Back and begins the full feature digital restoration on the B/W classic - To Kill a Mockingbird - all for Universal.

But that was 2001!!! According to Dvdempire the orignal TKAMB was released on 4-28-1998 so maybe this new release will be something to get with a 4 year or so restoration!!!

well the book was printed in 1960 and the film was made in 62... so they could do a 45th anniversary edition this year....

For the love of classic cinema I sure hope you're the only one thinking that.

Since I don't even remotely understand your reference... I'd say 'yes'.
