We got these today at my local video store housing the entire trilogy. The box looks exactly the same so I would say it is for real.

I just ordered and it said, "You will receive the Lord of the Rings slipcase within 8 - 10 weeks. Your order number is xxxxxx." Suprising that it takes 8-10 weeks, though I'm glad and appreciative of them doing this in the first place.

Agreed, they are very thoughtful ...one of the first to offer rebates for owning the theatrical release and now this. They know how to please their customers.

I'm sure Newline knows that there are completists that would actually rebuy all the trilogys to get the slip case...

I just ordered it. Which is ironic, because I usually discard the collector's boxes. But since I'm getting some new shelving this week, I'll have room for the little extra room that the collector's boxes take up.

Placed the order.

Was a bit sketchy, but I checked the WHOIS for the domain and it points to newline's nameservers. Can't wait to get this. Thanks for the heads up!

yes, but you would have to buy the three films with it.

How skeptical can you people actually be? ugh

I, for one, am not skeptical. I just prefer instant gratification vs. waiting 8-10 weeks.

I will be ordering this once I received an email from New Line Cinema support. Just a precautions for my part (I have been already a victim of credit card fraud :-(

The question I have in mind is that why would they [New Line Cinema] create another domain name if they can sell these on their online shop? I mean creating a domain name just for selling a DVD slipcase... don't you think it's a bit extreme?

I emailed New Line Cinema and asked if the domain name is really them... Once I received their response and it is truely theirs, I will order this in a heartbeat!

@dgc..... Thanks for the link and info!

I just ordered it. I was going to also order one for my dad, but it only allows one per address, so he'll have to get his own.

HA HA HA HA HA. I doubt it will "Sell out" as this is being made for those who buy the trilogy. So the number of units being produced will be well into the billions to serve all those who will be buying the dvds tomorrow.

Limited time offer valid until March 31, 2005 or while supplies last. Quantities are limited.
with an offer going into March 31's, they will be producing plenty of these. They only have the Quantities are limited to cover their bases legally. But I'm pretty sure that this will be fine ordering anytime within the next few months.
