Couldn't find anything searching the forums here or googling, so:

My friend called me last night and said she's gone through 4 copies of Criterion's Charade from Amazon recently. None will play. She has a Pioneer player, can't remember the model, fairly inexpensive (as I helped her buy it a couple years ago). Everything else is playing fine. She lives in another state so I can't check the disk myself. According to her, 'Menu' appears on the LCD display panel but some faulty disc icon also appears.
I see elsewhere in the forum that Spellbound had compatibility problems with some players, could this be a similar issue or something else? I've suggested that she try the disc on someone else's machine but thought I'd check here with the experts.

Charade I never heard of any compatibility problems,
i have the old non 16x9 version which never had problems,
but i cant be 100% sure about the new 16x9 disc.

Spellbound did have problems, but those were corrected on subsequent pressings.
