Waiting for Norther Exposure?
I am wondering if anyone else out there is waiting to buy the "Northern Exposure" Season DVDs. I had been waiting a long time for the series to come out of DVD, but I can't see paying $34.95 (costco, cheapest I could find) for 7 episodes for a TV Show. I mean at that price Season 3-6 would be like over a $100. So I was wondering if anyone else is waiting to see if the price on seasons 1 and 2 down down, or it seasons 3-6 will be the same $59.99 msrp?

I've passed on a few Universal titles because of the prices they release them at. Dream On, Northern Exposure, and Quantum Leap being the main ones that I would have bought right away normally.
I caught most of the episodes on Sc-Fi and ABC Family since so they can take their time. Some of the prices the studios set titles at are just way out of my league given their already on their 4th or 5th generation of profit. With so much available for entertainment I don't have any problem finding something else to watch.

Yeah, we've been holding off on Northern Exposure because of the price. I'd really like to get it given that I've heard lots of good things about it and have never seen it. There are just too many other things that I'd also like to have that are a lot more reasonably priced right now.

Probably the msrp will stay the same for season 3 and on. In an earlier thread, when Northern Exposure first came out, someone pointed out that Quantum Leap, also a Universal release, had a $60 msrp for its first season, eight episode release. The second season, a normal sized twenty-two episodes, had the same $60 msrp. So, I don't expect the following releases of NE will have three times the price.
However, if you want the quirky parka packaging, you can't wait indefinitely for that. I'm starting to see them on store shelves without the parka.
I wouldn't be surprised if, after the third or fourth season release, Universal repackages the first two seasons together to pull in new buyers who haven't seen the show before. Yes, that's what they should have done in the first place, but the machinations of the business world have their own reasons for doing things.

I finally realized something was weird, when my mom (who is a huge trekkie) would pay $35 for 8 episodes of NOrthern Exposure but not $78 for 25 episodes of ST: TOS.
