I'm pretty down on Universal for releasing Colossus: The Forbin Project in Pan & Scan a few weeks ago. Pan & Scan only? In 2004? I couldn't believe it. Truly pathetic.

My favorite studio has long been WB. Why? Because they single handedly brought down DVD prices by selling their catalog titles for cheap in the early years of DVD. Forced the other studios to follow suit. So WB gets a big from me!

Well, Sony seemed to be running away with it, but now with news of Universal's latest fumble on the upcoming "Apollo 13: Anniversary Edition" they're back in contention.

Agree. Warren Lieberfarb, the former chief of Warner Home Video championed the format and made it what it is today. He was pushing for a $10 price point when they (stupidly IMO) canned him. Still, they get the credit for his vision.
They are also the absolute best at restoration/cleanup of classic films.

Universal is the worst. How do they manage to screw up or have a controversy over nearly everything they release? Their classics like Marx Bros and Classic Monsters look pretty shabby next to the nearly perfect WB restorations.

Just so you know the documentary "Lost Moon" is on the new Apollo 13, according to Universal's website.

Also, I hate the wrappers fox uses, which leave residue on the spines of the dvds that won't come off.

Can't say i particularly have a strong disliking towards any studio, although i think my bank manager and wallet have a certain dislike to Criterion,Blue Underground and Anchor Bay for some reason
