Lowry Digital-

Hey. I love the restoration ( or clean up) done by them! They are responssible for such titles as; Citizen Kane ( which maybe was too cleaned up...), Sunset Blw, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Casablanca and Once upon a time in the west.
They are rumored to be working on King Kong, Pink Floyd "The Wall" and the new Bond dvds.
Have anyone heard of anything else? I would love to see them work on Seven Samurai for criterion!
Also I saw Terminator the other day and it could also use a touch up by them!

I talked to a lady at Lowry Digital one day who confirmed that they had already performed restoration on ALL THREE Godfather movies. For some reason, Paramount has been releasing the same transfers for the individual releases as the Collection. I guess they're saving the restoration for HD.

Damn! There was a rumor going around that these would be rereleased.

I believe Criterion does its own restoration work using this product from MTI.

That doesn't mean that they wouldn't use Lowry in the future of course (or they may have already, correct me if I'm wrong).

Criterion has put restoration demonstrations on a number of its disks (the one on L'Avventura is fascinating) which indicate that they have a lot of expertise in doing restoration work in their own right.

I actually think they have done something for Criterion, can't remember the title though. Criterion does some very nice restoration work indeed!

Apparently, LDI did the digital restoration for The Importance of Being Earnest for Criterion.

Since Lucasfilm has used Lowry for Indiana Jones, THX-1138 AND Star Wars, maybe -- just maybe -- they'll be given Lucas' greatest creation of all to tackle -- Howard the Duck.

Yeah, I wish. That LD is impossible to get at a good price. This might be right next to the original Star Wars and Song of the South on the NO YOU ARE NOT GETTING IT scale.

What would be really cool, but I know that it will never happen is a Lowry Digital clean-up of the late '80s series "Tour of Duty". The DVD releases look atrocious. I swear they're just ports of VHS copies.
