Details on:
Deleted scenes that are not on the other set, please.

Well this does not appear to be a truely 'ultimate collection'.

While I want to see the suicide ending. I also want to hear the writers commentary.
While I want to see part 3 with its burnt in subtitles(or are they player generate? Either way..they are subtitles, lol). I also want whatever features were on the previous release.

Hmm,so it appears I may just have to buy BOTH collectors sets when I have some extra spending money!

I was hoping I would not have to do that, and skipped the original release when I heard of the upcoming rerelease. Ughh,I could have gotten that set for under $30. I hope it is still easy to find.

thelwig14 11-25-04 11:30 PM

Yes.

joliom 11-26-04 02:50 PM

Thanks for the info. I pulled my listing for the Trilogy set from Half.com. I might just have to have both sets from what I'm hearing.

Artman 11-26-04 03:05 PM

I'm interested in the extas (and Rambo3 subtitles) but in no hurry for this set. I'll pick it up during the next DDD sale (probably be a price drop by than as well.)

Same for the new Rocky set.

wm lopez 11-26-04 06:02 PM

On the ROCKY set in an ad it says all-new transfers.

HighSpeedOnIce 11-27-04 01:41 AM

I couldn't bring myself to pick up the new box set considering I've already bought these movies twice before. However my curiosity got the best of me and I did spring for the single disc version of "First Blood".

It was pretty disappointing to see that the film is the same old cut it's always been. The new/deleted scenes are not included, but rather as a bonus feature. I would have much rather had an alternate cut of the film. It would have been nice to see the additional footage in context.

Just my two cents.

jasonbird 11-27-04 01:06 PM

How are the transfers on this set?

Thanks - Jason

Yeah, this is pretty much where I'm at right now too. But I would like a little more info on the new set as far as new extras & transfers are concerned to make a final determination as to whether or not I want to buy the whole set or just First Blood by itself. If Pts. 2 & 3 are the same transfers with nothing new in terms of great extras or added scenes then maybe I'll just add the new First Blood to my old set.

Does this new version of the Rambo collection have the russian dialog/subtitle problem fixed? The original release had the Russian audio but no subs.

Fixed?

Doniphon 12-04-04 09:00 AM

Don't bother upgrading. The extras are not worth it. Stallones commentary is pretty good, but probably not worth forking over for these movies again. Min will be on ebay soon.

One ridiculous part of Stallones commentary is when he says that he "knew David Caruso had something special" then. Give me a break. The guy has a bit part, and is nothing more then a wimp and a punching back for Teasle.

Yes, it is fixed.

joliom 12-04-04 11:23 AM

Was the subtitle problem on Rambo II or Rambo III?

 Maybe Sly's hoping for a guest spot on CSI: Miami.

Bill Needle 12-04-04 11:45 AM

So I should stick with the three-pack tin? It sounds like it has better extras anyway. A Stallone commentary would be a curiosity, but not much more than that. And the "survival mode" thing sounds just plain silly. The only reason I would think about upgrading at this point would be if the audio/video were spectacular, and didn't they actually dropp the DTS track?

sorry dude, but I thought the same thing the first time I saw the film in the theater....way back then. yeah, it was a small role....but sometimes people have a "gut" feeling about someone or their style. I see the same in many other actors as well. some go onto better things...some dont. I liked Caruso then, and I like him now.:D

I do not think the Survival mode is silly. I like some of the info and I like looking at the files of each character.

So you're saying that in 1982, as you witnessed him whining about letting the state police handle Rambo, and as he was being slapped around by Teasle, you thought to yourself, "Wow. There's something about this redheaded wimp?" I don't think so.

gutwrencher 12-05-04 06:42 PM

thats right...'cool' new guy

now you figured it out....good job. and yes....I did. ya know that gut feeling I mentioned? you don't have it.

Bill Needle 12-05-04 11:10 PM

I remember thinking how much better William H. Macy would have nailed the part.

The only exception is Boomtown, which I bought right away because I really couldn't wait another day.

From what book of stupididty you got that rule?

Artisan 1st press releases offfers great "metal/tin" packaging.

It's 100% true, though. The only titles he'd mentioned that came in metal/tin cases anyway were T2: Extreme Edition (which had a metal case that shredded the keepcase inside upon first extraction) and TOTAL RECALL: Special Edition (which came in a round Mars case that many fans found to be completely impractical from a storage viewpoint).

But he mentioned the the prices drops rapidly like a stone. I dont think that the following prices for this 1st press/ limited edition releases dropped?

Its more of like, there were artisan follow-up re-releases that were repackaged with cardboard and can be bought at an affordable price.

and Im intrigued that the T2:Extreme you mentioned shreds dvd keepcase? did it happened to you? it did not happened on my end.

If we take collectible packaging out of the equation
(and hell, that RAMBO box can be had for less than $20 new at Amazon.com), then his post is accurate.

Oh yes, this was a wide-ranging problem, though Artisan was very good and prompt at mailing free replacement cases to those of us who contacted them.
