I'd not mention it here since people REALLY get their panties in a bunch about such corporate flubs.

whats on the best buy bonus disk?

Yeah there's not much on it. Just a featurette with the cast (including people like Uncle Leo and Putty) and a trailer. Not much, but hey, it's free, so whatever.

Originally posted by Al Padrino I'm in heaven. I saw a packed Best Buy parking lot and the paranoid part of me said, "They're all in there taking my Seinfeld gift set!" But thankfully, there were plenty of sets available, so I grabbed one without a second though (heavy bugger, too), along with the free DVD and magazine. Just got home (didn't go to my second class) and cracked this bad boy open. Awesome stuff. The set's worth it just for the great packaging and mini-script of The Big Salad. Awesome stuff; I'm too hyper to even type, that's how big of a deal this set is to me. I need to calm the hell down; I'll be over there watching Season 1 if you need me. |
I'm sorry, what'd you say? I couldn't hear you, I was snorting The Pony Remark too loudly.

Got mine from Amazon today... first time I've ever gotten something from them on actual release day! Nice set.

Well, I handed over one of my gift cards and off came $39.99 + tax. As I'm walking out the door I look in my bag and see THE GIFT SET!!!! Originally posted by uteotw I would take it back and tell them their mistake. If they're smart, they'll appreciate your honesty and let you keep it. If not, you buy what you wanted, get what you paid for, and sleep well. |

Originally posted by TomOpus You should feel very very bad. Send me the set to appease the karma gods and you'll feel better. Trust me it works  Next time be more careful. :) Seriously, after some thought and a brief discussion with my wife, I did go back. The Manager thanked me. I told him I originally planned on getting the set at Best Buy but wanted to use my store credit but felt $89.99 was too expensive. He then offered to beat Best Buy's price. So I ended up getting the gift set for about $70. So for $30 more of store credit I got my gift set. Honesty is the best policy :) |

Hell, if I got the Seinfeld box for that price, I'd be sleeping well. |
Picked up the Nirvana boxed set and Seinfeld Season 3 at Target for a total of $56.00
Then went to Best Buy and got Seinfeld Seasons 1 & 2 (+the bonus DVD), and the new Evanescence CD/DVD release for $45. Total cost: $101. Retail value: $185. Not a bad day... By the way, NOBODY had the Gift Sets. Not Best Buy, not Target, not Wal-Mart. I can't really complain, though, since the extra stuff in it wasn't worth the extra $20 to me. I'm not a collector of salt and pepper shakers... |
Has anyone had any problems with the menus? I watched the first couple of episodes and some features and any menu option on the right hand side doesn't highlight over the button. The highlight appears way off to the right. Even on the "extras" on the fridge. I highlight it and the highlight is about an inch to the right of the actual button. Very odd.
|
Are there any differences in disc content between the individual seasons and the gift set? The only difference from my understanding is that the gift set has extras like salt and pepper shakers, a script and playing cards, but the actual disc contents are identical. Also, are the individual sets packaged nicely? The box for the gift set seems really nice and well made, I want to know how they compare.
|
There is no difference. The gift set is just a box that has the same 2 season sets, script and box with the cards and shakers.
The season sets are kinda flimsy. |
is it just me, or are the jerry seinfeld/larry david commentaries really disapointing.....

I really like Seinfeld but I honestly didn't think I'd buy the DVDs or I seemed to think that a few months ago.
I went to Wal-Mart to pickup Harry Potter and I picked up the Seinfeld gift set since it was the only thing I thought they had. I walked up to pay for my DVD in the electronics section and commented to the lady, who knows me well from me being there ever Monday, about how bummed I was that they only had the gift set. She thens tells me the regular sets were up front. I ended up getting both sets and I'm really amazed at the amount of extras on this. I never really paid attention to the extras because I didn't think I'd be getting it. The only problem is I now have to get another rack because the one I had to hold my TV shows on DVD is pretty much maxed out. I look forward to the rest of the seasons. :) |

i've had mine for 2 weeks now (it came out in R2 earlier!:eek: ) and i am very happy with it. the extra content is plentyful and the episodes are hilarious even though i've seen every ep. at least 3 times... (i've watched S1+2 so far)
minor complaints: packaging is pretty weak - 2 digipacks in a thin cardboard box commentaries are not that great. lots of silence - i think it's mainly because none of these guys has seen these episodes since they aired. but i like listening to them anyway. the trivia subtitle track is awesome, but it runs too fast sometimes. the 'kramer entrance counter' and 'girl/boyfriend counters' for the principal actors is a GREAT idea! i hope S4 comes out SOOOOON! :D |
