New "Godzilla" DVD's worth it?
Hello
I know this is one of those never ending subjects but I'm asking about the latest DVD's from the Big Guy himself. I've looked on e-bay and there seems to be more choices on Godzilla than any other character there is. I was at Media Play and they had the new ones and the new box set. I was hoping for a better price than the $22 per and $90 for the box set.
So are these new ones that good or say the ones with the double feature on the front cover ok? I know not to bother with that cheesy box set from a couple of years ago. There's some being offered on e-bay that says "all-region" to which I'm not sure of. Thanks for any help and input on this.
P.S - One side note - How's the "Gamera" DVD's? I saw them as well.
Kenny J.

Don't buy DVDs on eBay. Most of them are bootleg copies from Asia.
The subtitled Godzilla DVDs are great. I have two and have seen another one. Apparently Godzilla 2000 is subtitled in the new sets they released, as well, but not separately. If you don't want to pick up the set, I'd get that one in R3 (provided you have a region-free player).
There is a review of the Gamera box set, which you can find at Deep Discount DVD for, like, $25 shipped:

There are also reviews here for pretty much every R1 Godzilla DVD.

Unfortunately, the GODZILLA 2000 disk is the same as the old one.
Stay away from the vs King Ghidora/vs. Mothra double feature disc. It's full screen and English dubbed only. The other double feature one (vs. Space Godzilla/vs. Destroyer) is widescreen at least, but still English only. Who knows if Columbia will redo these someday though. The other more recent Godzilla DVDs that Columbia put out are excellent. Unfortunately they are not cheap, and for some reason nearly impossible to find in Canada
As for the ADV Gamera discs, the first one is non-anamorphic and 2.0 audio only (apparently a port from their previous VHS), but their discs of Part 2 and 3 are very nice.
