Cant wait to get it.

Romerojpg 11-11-04 04:16 PM

If True its gonna be bought!

the fact its maybe the best Treck film helps a lot, a pity the last few were nowhere near as good as it :(

hey I guess we could all wait another yeatr or so for the inevitable ULTIMATE SET of all the treck films, but hey I want 1st Contact now :) bring it on!

Rammsteinfan 11-11-04 04:18 PM

Just think... this means were closer to an Insurrection CE late next year. ;)

I'm not sure you should be giving opinions on the films if you don't even know how to spell Trek. ;)

buckee1 11-11-04 04:29 PM

Definately picking it up!

Eric F 11-11-04 04:49 PM

HBO-HD has been running a nice transfer of this OAR. Could be from the same master.

BananaMan 11-11-04 05:01 PM

Great news.

milo bloom 11-11-04 05:05 PM

THE LINE MUST BE DRAWN HERE!

Because I'm not buying any more of the Trek movies after this one.
Good to hear, let's hope for DTS.

ditto.

Glad to hear there's a possible date set.

Bronkster 11-11-04 07:13 PM

As much as I hate double-dipping (got the big set when it came out) I will be getting this because it's one of my favorite movies. Costco had Generations for $12.00, so if this is the same, the double-dip won't hurt so much ;)

lisadoris 11-11-04 08:22 PM

Sweet! Even though this will probably be the last Trek film I buy I'm still psyched (the listing of Face/Off SE on that list also has me excited)

Breakfast with Girls 11-11-04 08:38 PM

Like everyone else, this will probably be my last Trek film. I immensely enjoy the first 6 films (even V), but this is the only TNG film I really liked.

Cartload 11-11-04 08:45 PM

The last of the Trek double-dips for me. No need to pick up Insurrection and Nemesis again.

Fok 11-11-04 10:12 PM

Going to double dip on this one for sure. Insurrection I'll skip, not quite sure about Nemesis though.

Mike Lowrey 11-11-04 10:15 PM

Oh com'on guys, you know you want Insurrection...I know you do...just admit it. ;)

Well, since I never bought any of the old releases, I'm getting all the CEs. And since I'm using Ric Easton's great custom covers, you betcha I'm get'em all.

Mike Lowrey 11-11-04 10:18 PM

Also interesting to note is Season 1 of Star Trek Enterprise for 5/3.

That'll be good, because by then, I'll be caught up with Voyager. Just got Season 4 this week. Probably wait till January for Season 5.

Well, I did cave when it came to The Final Frontier, so I can't trust myself to leave Insurrection on the shelf either...

Rammsteinfan 11-11-04 11:07 PM

ill pick up Insurrection even though I prob wont watch it but once, have to hear the commentary on it and see what Frakes has to say about his failed film. Need to be complete and have them all.

Altimus Prime 11-11-04 11:07 PM

I have to wait until frikkin' MARCH?!?? Damn. Oh well. I'll get it on release day, for sure. Fortunately, it won't be a double dip. I've been waiting for this.

And YES, I will also BUY a new CE/SE of Insurrection. I like that movie.

I already have Nemesis, and won't double dip.

The only CE/SE/DE edition Trek DVDs I don't have are Search for Spock, Final Frontier and Generations.

calhoun07 11-11-04 11:09 PM

This is a must buy, and I will also buy the inevitable Insurrection and Nemesis SEs. The recent two are not nearly as good as First Contact, but if I bought Trek V, I can buy any of them.

I actually DO like Insurrection and will buy it if/when a CE is produced. In the meantime, for this news.

Geofferson 11-12-04 08:09 AM

I'll be getting this for sure!

Shannon Nutt 11-12-04 08:33 AM

Paramount: Please, please let Jonathan Frakes do a commentary track on this! I don't want another "Writers" track, like on Generations.

buckee1 11-12-04 08:35 AM

Good to hear that I'm not the only one who likes "Insurrection" & "Nemesis"! As I said above, I'm definately picking this one up and cannot wait until the rest of the films are released with SE treatment as well. I must admit though that I've not been able to get into "Enterprise". This season's shows (S3?) look like they might be pretty good but on the whole, the previous seasons did absolutely nothing for me.

sirbrady 11-12-04 09:09 AM

Why such a long wait? 5 or 6 months after Generations..

Red Dog 11-12-04 09:39 AM

This very well could be the last Star Trek film I ever buy. The only thing Trek I'll need after that is TAS.

Me too. Actually, Insurrection is my favorite of the (mostly-mediocre) TNG movies. It was the closest to the feel of the show, and had the tightest writing.

The others are fun enough, too, I suppose. I'll grab all of the CEs. As long as it isn't Voyager or Enterprise, I'm pretty much a ST whore.

B5Erik 11-12-04 11:38 AM

I liked Insurrection better than First Contact.

I didn't like the schizophrenic feel of First Contact - Dark, moody, extremely serious up on the Enterprise, but tongue in cheek humorous down on Earth. And they destroyed the characterization of Zefram Cochran from TOS and came up with a completely different character with the same name. Hell, with the way they wrote the character in First Contact it stretched credibility to think that he even bothered to build the first warp drive - it even stretched credibility to think that that guy could even come up with the idea and design a warp drive!

First Contact was OK, but I thought Insurrection was much better because the characterization was better handled.

I'm not sure if I'll double dip on any more Trek movies. I might get Insurrection, but I don't think I'll get the CE/SE of First Contact.

The Antipodean 11-12-04 12:06 PM

I like Insurrection quite a lot -- it's definitely better than Generations. First Contact is the best of the TNG Trek films of course, but Insurrection to me captured the tone of the tv series best, the relationships between the crew members, etc. It may be "slower" but I dig it.

sn9ke_eyes 11-12-04 01:53 PM

last one I will buy since I already have Nemesis and don't plan on double dipping.

Rammsteinfan 11-12-04 02:26 PM

Nemesis is gonna have to have alot on it for me to Double Dip... maybe the so called 2 1/2 hour or longer cut of the film?

buckee1 11-12-04 02:51 PM

That would be a great added feature, if it exists and if they'll include it.

Rammsteinfan 11-12-04 05:22 PM

Im sure it must exist in some form. The director said the finished product was like 2 1/2 hours before they trimmed it down. *shrug* I would like to see it available at some point or at least all those deleted scenes included since the standard version doesnt have that much.

Rammsteinfan 11-12-04 05:26 PM

I didnt look this up before but here at IMDB http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0253754/alternateversions they show that 50 mins was cut out. It lists alot of the scenes that are stated as FULLY PRODUCED but CUT... so thats hopefuly if they were to include it. You hear us Paramount?? ;)

davcole 11-13-04 03:26 AM

A definite must buy!!! The only good TNG cast film!!! This one will be my last of the STAR TREK rebuys!!! I'm hoping for DTS too!!!

OK, I may have been a "little" interested in an extended cut before but, after reading the info @ IMDB, I gotta see all these FUlly Produced scenes. If this is a 2-discer Disc one should bear this longer cut and disc two should reflect the usual extras. Here's to hoping!

The Monkees 11-13-04 05:40 PM

You do know that they'll release it then realize they added something on the back of the box that isn't on the DVD then recall it for a month...

Good news anyway

And for those times, there's always Wal-Mart!

Mike Lowrey 11-13-04 08:02 PM

I'm getting all of the remaining 3 CEs, since I don't have any of the original releases. I held off on the initial Nemesis because it wasn't the CE when they were already in the middle of the CE releases.

I'm hoping that the CE of Nemesis will be a DE like I and II were.

Defiant1 11-13-04 08:56 PM

It's a little sad that this will be my last ever Star Trek DVD purchase. Only a super-duper SE of Nemesis would get me to buy that again.

Here's hoping for a DTS track. And hopefully, Paramount won't mess with the video transfer like they did with Generations SE.
