Haha ya anyone want a region 2 of ews uncut? I'm surprised they only added the commentary on ews if you buy the box set...well i'll definitely be getting that then. Surprised Cruise didn't go for it as well?? Syndey was great in the film so it will be interesting to hear his own interpretation of the film.
I'm excited about the fmj commentary with Ermy. That in it self will be worth a double dip.. Although other than that, fmj really has minimal special features. It's the shittiest release of the dvd sets. Whereas 2001 is the most loaded!

I know they're not part of the set, but does anyone know if Barry Lyndon or Lolita reviews have been posted. These two films deserve better, particularly Barry Lyndon, which I feel is one of Kubrick's finest films.

I've wondered the same thing...there's not been any info on it whatsoever except that it's being released on tuesday...I guess we'll find out then.

What gives?
What gives?
Perhaps some last-minute changes were made to this title, for whatever reason...

Now, I'm planning on getting these in Blu-Ray so I'm hoping it will hopefully be at least as sharp as the previous DVD, but this may be a transfer problem rather than a delivery issue.
What do you guys think?

Anyone get this yet? I'm trying to decide whether to get the individual sets or the box set. Just want to make sure which extras are on each. Also, could someone post pictures of the packaging?

[QUOTE=MikeShaynePI]They fucked up the big Superman release last year. Wouldn't shock me if WHV fucked up the big Kubrick release this year.[/QUOTE
Fucked up = leaving off the original stereo mix off the '78 film's theatrical cut and including the bare-bones disc of III in the ultimate set? And they even fixed it. Seriously, a lot of releases get serious issues and WB actually fixed it all this time.
Why do I have the feeling that Kubrick's estate is behind some of the shortcomings? Sydney Pollack doing a commentary for EWS would be awesome since he's a great director in his own right and would probably provide the same level of quality Soderbergh gives. Maybe that's the problem. Having Keir Duella and Gary Lockwood on 2001 is mostly inconsequential compared to having someone like Roger Ebert.
Still, leaving off mono mixes and not including the Arthur C. Clarke interview (on the MGM 2001 DVD) is a bit pointless.

ACO does look a lot softer in the screencaps. Wonder if the HD versions are that way, too.
And, I can't be one hundred percent sure (it's hard to tell by scrolling the page up and down), but the new version of 2001 also looks like it might be just slightly less sharp than the previous version. Most noticeable in the cap of the monolith overlooking the bed.

Someone has a few shots from the Blu-Ray version of Full Metal Jacket up if anyone cares to check it out:

This was mentioned a couple of pages back. The actual covers, however, do not reflect what's shown on the site. They are the same designs as have been shown all along.

Looking forward to this release, but am having second thoughts on purchasing due to the amazing disappearing Eyes Wide Shut commentary track. As EWS was the disc I was most looking forward to (due to the unrated version and Sydney Pollack commentary), I'm pretty disappointed.
I already own the previous Kubrick Collection and it's really the full-length commentary tracks that are attracting me to this new set. So, they're losing points from me for that one.
