Pandora's Box with Louise Brooks
Is this film out anywhere in any region yet? I can't seem to find it, but it seems to be a film that's highly recommended. I've seen a lot of silent comedy but I'm interested in greats in other genres. Comedy is easy to find...the others, not so easy.
After watching The Bat Whispers, I've developed a new excitement in finding other old films. (Great film btw...extremely interesting how they filmed some of those shots).
Thanks.

Thanks...I guess didn't find anything about that on my search. If you see the thread, please send me the link. I don't find anything about pandora's being released on Criterion. I'd wait for that version if it's true.

Pandora's Box
It is out in R2 Britain and R2 France and R4. I have the R2 British disc. Both discs have the R2 British disc (Second Sight Films U.K.) and the R4 disc (Umbrella Entertainment - Australia) have the "Looking for Lulu" documentary as an extra. The R2 UK disc isn't bad, but the video is a bit murky. It is certainly passable, particularly as this is one of my favorite silents. As for Criterion, everything is a rumor at this point. They apparently plan to release it, but the elements are problematic and they don't want to put it out until they can do it justice. This has been rumored for a few years, just like their "Tales of Hoffman" disc which seems to have similar issues. I finally got tired of waiting and picked up the R2 for these reasons.

This is definitely one of my favorite silent movies, especially since Brooksie is one of my favorite actresses of all time.
I picked up the R2 UK release when it first came out, in fact this is the title that made me go region free in the first place. The R2 disc is pretty nice, I have no complaints with it. I hope more of her films (that still exist) will come out in any region. There are too few available right now IMO.

Louise Brooks
I'm right there with you, fnordboy. I have had a mini Louise Brooks obsession since I watched Pandora's Box and Diary of a Lost Girl for the first time. Now if I could see more of her films, particulary Prix de Beaute, The Canary Murder Case and Beggars of Life, I would be happy.
