Rate My DVD Collection
This is simple. Someone who makes the last reply has to give a rating to the person above you and it goes on like a chain. You can see my collection by clicking on the link below
What do you give my collection? Be sure and also rank on What your gonna buy, look at the whole picture if you have to. Just a suggestion. Later ~Paul (PHMustang2000) |
You have 7th Heaven.
|
PHMustang2000, that's the most vanilla flavored "collection" I've seen in a long, long time. Looks more like a TV Guide listing than a DVD collection. I give it a D-. On the other hand, Daniel L's collection shows an actual interest in something, namely horror & sci-fi. I give it a B+.
|
So he's not allowed to like TV on DVD? My only complaint is the inclusion of Friends.
|
There's a lot of good movies made before 1985. ;)

Surely, that excessive amount of TV isn't bad in and of itself, but the selection is quite bland. Turning to PHMustang's movies . . . wow. American Psycho 2? Crossroads!? That title list reads as if it should be the works cited by Not Another Teen Movie. Are you a fifteen year old girl, PH?
|
1) American Psycho II, but no American Psycho I?
2) Britney Spears Report Card = D |
PHMustang2000: D
Daniel L: C- Yakuza Bengoshi: A- Al Padrino: C+ |

PHMustang2000 for a TV collection an A but for a collection overall I'd say a D.....no foreign titles, little horror...no variety
Damed you have a nice Horror collection with a good mix of maintream and lots of Disney movies.....B+ Yakuza Bengoshi the minute I saw your folder headings I knew I'd love your collection A+++++++ I'm adding some of your titles to my wish list ;) |
Bosskmr
You have an amazing collection, one that I would drool over... if I was 12 years old!!! LOL... no quite a nice collection of Asian, and horror. I'm not into the animation, but still very nice. You mentioned someone else having a lack of foreign in their collection, and even though you do have some foreign, I see only action adventure, thriller. So, I'm gonna take some points off for no serious drama, or foreign classics. |
Well I just started buying Anime, Asian movies and horror titles this past May. I was under 200 DVDs 6 months ago.
I also just purchased an all Region DVD player . As far as Drama DVDs go I do not buy many (if any) becuase those are movies I'd most likely only view once. I'm not into movies from the 40s, 50s and 60s And Bobby Shalom you also have an amazing collection, one that I would drool over... if I was 60 ++ years old!!! Are you trying to say that Anime is for kids??? I think many would disagree with you |
I'll give you an A+ Bobby Shalom, as it would be the kind of collection i'd have if i had more moneys.
I didnt know little big man was out too, so i'll get right onto ordering that. |
<homer> I like stories </homer>

Nice collection, headrippa.
Any collection with Disney Treasures and Straw Dogs is okay by me! |
Bosskmr,
I made an LOL... to try and show you I was being half hearted, I prolly should have made a ;) as well. I know us DVD peoples can take some good natured ribbing. Oy, I feel about 60! And no it wasn't only the genre of anime that made me say 12 year old... it was the anime + horror + action + marvel comics +sci-fi minus a lack of 60 year old viewing material. Don't get me wrong, i love me so Miike, only if the next night I can watch some boring ass Bergman :) |
Sorry Bobby ..I miss read your post & the LOL...no hard feelings;)
If you think my DVD collection belongs to a 12 year old you should see my Toy/Statue collection: Star Wars, GI Joes, Marvel & DC, monsters, Gundams and anything I can fit in my collectors room One more thing...do you really think 12 yr olds should be watching a Miike flick;) |
Thanks to DVDProfiler, my current gf got to see my DVD collection before she saw me.
Mine should be pretty easy to evaluate, because I have under 100 DVDs - at least for now. |

So this is like, entirely subjective?
Altimus Prime, apart from a few things like V and Knight Rider, your collection looks like a 'blockbuster'-focused one [not BB the store, the idea of a movie blockbuster.] Not necessarily a bad thing, since in some cases there's good reason for something to be a blockbuster [the first Matrix, Finding Nemo, Ferris Bueller, etc]. And a focus on mainstream Hollywood scifi. But that's generally what a 'new collection' might include, some of the 'big things' you've heard about or seen and would enjoy/rewatch at home. An arbitrary A-, slightly marred by things like Caveman and Orca [based solely on my own interests and opinions, of course.] And to be fair, I'll put myself on the chopping block. http://www.intervocative.com/DVDColl....aspx/dtcarson [note: French Kiss, Grease 2, Richard Simmons, and Tango and Cash are my wife's.] Bobby Shalom: that little boy is creepy. |

Halloween (H25 or previous limited edition, depending on your color timing tastes) The Thing (Carpenter's best, IMO) They Live (Piper, 'nuff said) Big Trouble in Little China (you may have to dig for the 2 disc SE but it's worth it) Christine |

Originally posted by Bobby Shalom Bosskmr wrote - "do you really think 12 yr olds should be watching a Miike flick?" Maybe this little guy - http://www.sfbok.se/filer/images/grudge.jpg Yeah, that will work...I think that is a young Miike |
Admittedly, CCS is all mine; picked up the first few disks at deals, then bought the rest when TRSI had their weekly sale bringing them down to less than 10 bucks a disk. It is quite a good series [avoid the horribly edited and out-of-order 'Cardcaptors' series]. One complaint is the disks aren't really numbered, you have to look at small print on the back of the case to see which episodes come next. CCS is a very 'feel good' series; a young girl learning her own abilities, strengths, weaknesses, while of course being involved in the hunt for magical talismans that have been scattered and possibly threaten her townsfolk. It's very positive-feeling, and just so 'bright', literally and figuratively.
